Page 17 of Sinful Temptation

Running up towards Callum’s bedroom, I open it and see him sitting on his bed, head in his hands.

“Callum...”

“How long?” he can't even look at me, pure disgust all over his face.

“Callum...” I try and get him to look at me.

“HOW FUCKING LONG MUM?!” his voice echoes around the room and I jump in my skin. He has never once raised his voice to me before.

I roll my lips and ignore the way the tears burn behind my eyes.

“How long have you been fucking my best friend for?” he pushes from the bed and I see his red rimmed eyes lock on mine.

“Six weeks,” Ezra steps behind me, his hand curling around my waist as he pulls me back.

“Is it just sex to you?” his gaze narrows on his best friend.

“No mate...” he shakes his head and my heart is jack hammering in my chest. “It's so much more than that.”

He now turns his gaze to mine, “And you? What is it to you?”

“I love him,” I just about manage to squeeze it over the lump in my throat.

He nods.“Love,” he scoffs and shakes his head, but I don't miss the smile that haunts his face.

“I never planned this... we never planned this.”

“I'm real happy for you mum,” he nods and I can see the tears that loiter on his bottom lid, “but it's going to take me some time to get used to this... I just need a breather.”

“Okay,” I nod. Silence crackles around the room, the tension growing.“I'm sorry Callum, I hate that I have disappointed you.”

“I'm not disappointed mum... not even a little bit. Just a little shocked... a little betrayed... but never disappointed. You deserve to be loved mum, you're the most deserving person... I just didn't expect you to fall in love with my best friend.”

“I will always look after her, man, you know that don't you?”His glassy eyes meet Ezra before he gives a heavy nod.“I'm going to pack a bag and check into a hotel room for a few nights, clear my head...”

I nod and that's all I can manage.

Ezra's hand slips into mine and he pulls me out of the room before he shuts me out and closes the door and as much as I don't want to leave, I also need to leave them to it.

They need to sort it out.

I pace back to my bedroom and notice the time and my heart drops.

Shit.

I am late for lunch at Flora and Edward’s.

Scrambling around, I pull out some clothes and rush from the door, hailing a cab and making my way there.

Knocking on the door, my heart is in my throat and I know Flora is going to be pissed that I am late.

“Lily?” Flora says, my eyes are frantic, my teeth are biting my fake nails.

“Sorry,” I rush out, pushing past her and walking into the long hallway.

“What's happened?” she whispers, her eyes darting over me.

“I've fucked up,” I swallow, catching her worried gaze before I am back chewing my nail.
