“I think there’s more than a few things we need to talk about,” Raine mutters, a small nervous smile tugs at her lips. Even as small as it is, I can see the dimples forming.

“Yeah, baby, we’ve got more than a few things to talk about, but right now, there are some things more pressing than others.”

“Okay,” she draws out. “What are those?”

Sighing, I stroke a hand along her spine, feeling the small shivers. “How about before we talk, I get you back to the clubhouse and in my room?” Not that Iwouldn’t mind doing any of those things out here, but it’s gonna get cold soon. I knew the temp was already dropping. The last thing I want is for Raine to be out in it. She doesn’t need to get sick.

In the past few days, Coby and me have done some digging into her past after having a word with her folks. We didn’t let them in on what we knew, but Rena, she seemed to know something. It’s why Raine’s dad offered up information. What Coby and I found was that though Raine was a dream walker, she was still human. I didn’t understand much more than that. We had more digging to do.

“I don’t have any clothes, considering you shredded mine,” she notes what I already know.

I can’t help but grin. “Yeah, I did.” I hadn’t been worried about her clothes. All I cared about at the time was getting her out of them. Getting her naked. Feeling her body beneath mine and taking her as I wanted to take her.Raine telling me she was mine, fuck, it healed something inside me. “Let’s get you to the clubhouse, and we’ll talk.”

“How come I can hear you, but I can’t hear your wolf?” Raine asks, her head cocked slightly to the right. Eyes curious.

“What do you mean?” I wasn’t sure what she was asking.

“Well, in my dreams, your wolf talked to me. We always talked. And just now, you said you were telling your wolf to focus, but I didn’t hear him. He’s you, and you’re him, so wouldn’t your thoughts be the same? Or connected. And how is it I could hear you?”

This isn’t where I want to be explaining these things, but I’ll give her this. “I don’t know how to explain it all so you can understand. Each pair of mates is different. Not everything between them is the same. But some can hear each other’s thoughts. Speak through a mind link. Others are able to communicate by both.”

“Oh,” she whispers, drawing out the sound.

“Yeah.”

Our mate can speak to us both, but it’s through her dreams we connect. She’s mine as she’s yours. Mine in the night. Yours in the day. Ours as a whole. Ours in the waking. Ours in the dreams.

Makes sense,I tell him.

“What makes sense?” Raine asks, brows creasing to meet in the middle.

Fuck.

Clearing my throat, I tell her, “He was sharing something with me.”

“What’s that?” Now, she sounded curious.

It’s not time for her to know yet.

The fuck? How do we keep this from her?I didn’t understand what he meant by it’s not time.

She’ll understand when it’s time, but it’s not the time as of yet.

I shake my head, knowing she’d heard what I said to my wolf. It’s weird as fuck she’s able to do that. Be easier if she could hear us both.

“I’m guessing he doesn’t want you to explain to me what he’s saying to you.”

“Something like that,” I grunt and slide a hand up into her hair, tangling my fingers in the threads.

“Right,” she utters, eyes growing heavy. “Then, before we go, can I ask that we do something?”

“What’s that?” I get the sense I know exactly what it is she wants.

“This,” she murmurs and strokes her slickness over my cock. “Take me again. I want to feel you inside me again.”

If that’s what my mate wants, then that’s what she’s gonna get.
