“What’s going on?” Mom shouts.
They all start over.
I flick to Jordyn, saying excitedly, “The Revs called.”
“Yes!” she yells in delight and runs into me,careful not to cause a tumble as she throws her arms around my neck. “I knewit. I knew they would.”
I move her back to kiss her hard without care.
“You sent a clip?” I confirm afterward.
She nods. “Remember when I recorded why you lovesoccer?”
“Yeah.” I click my tongue. “Jesus. That’s socheesy.”
“That was genuine.” She presses her hand at mychest. “It came from here. That’s what convinced them.”
I cover her hand with mine, smiling at her withpure adoration. “I love you, Jordyn.”
Everyone oohs and chuckles.
“You guys are so corny,” Noah teases. “But it’scute.”
“Shut up,” I clip without taking my eyes offJordyn.
She giggles. “I love you, Caleb.”
I pull her into my arms for a tight hug.
Though I never got to see Dove again, I’m gratefulmy fixation brought me to Jordyn, and I get to move into the future with her. Ihave no regrets about that.
Eight years later…
I hear the front door as I’m wrapping up an emailto my boss for a marketing outline.
“Babe?” Caleb calls out, sounding elated.
“In here.” I glance over my shoulder, spotting abouquet in his hand and a big smile on his face.
“Where’s Casey?” he asks.
“With our moms. He’s having a blast with both hisgrandmothers.”
“That’s nice.” He rocks back and forth in hissneakers. “How was your day?”
“Good.” I’ll wait a bit to share the news. “Youseem happier than ever.” My eyes expand as it dawns on me. “You did it?”
“Yep. I landed the endorsement deal.”
“That’s awesome!” I jump up from the sofa to givehim a celebratory kiss and hug. “Congratulations.”
“Thank you, my love.” He offers me the roses.“It’s a great deal. Three years. Athleisure wear, sneakers, fitness bands.”
“Hm.” I kiss him again. “That’s truly exciting. But why am I getting roses when you’re the one who landed the deal?”
“Because I love buying flowers for my amazingwife.” He wiggles his brows.
I chuckle and push him back playfully.
