His teammate grips his shoulder at the same timeDante quickens to my side to hold me back.

“Don’t,” he warns me against it.

The asshole throws me a threatening look over hisshoulder as they walk away.

“Fuck is his problem?” I grit.

“I heard he got overlooked for a shot in Hartfordclub. He’s probably bitter since the word is they’re checking out yourperformance.”

I comb over my wet strands. “Even if that’s thecase, dude needs to get a grip.”

Dante chuckles and shoves me back playfully. “Comeon, man. We won! Let’s celebrate!”

Jordyn gives me a sweet smile when I open thedoor. “Hey. Congrats on another win. Sorry I couldn’t stay for the entirematch.”

“It’s fine. You had to work.”

She looks around my room like a curious cat, staring at my soccer posters and the well-arranged items on my chest ofdrawers.

Shutting the door, I trail my eyes over her andbite my lip. Her slender, smooth-looking legs are on display due to the shorts, and her off-the-shoulder crop top reveals her flat stomach.

Fuck. I can’t wait to run my fingers over herbody.

This must be the reason she went to the dorm afterwork. I know damn well she didn’t walk around the bistro in that outfit. Herboss wouldn’t have allowed it.

“You didn’t mention the genre,” she says, takingin more of my space.

“Horror, of course.” I clear the dirty thoughtsand grab water from my mini-fridge. “Want something to drink? I have snacks, too.”

“Popcorn?” She turns to me after perusing thedesign models on my study desk.

“Yes, and it’s even salted caramel.”

“Ooh. The way to my heart.” She plucks it from myhand and opens the bag.

I sniff. “If only it were that easy.”

Jordyn snorts and tosses popcorn into her mouth.

Setting two water bottles on the nightstand, I siton the bed and ready the laptop.

Without hesitation, she walks around to the otherside, removes her low-top sneakers, and lowers, legs outstretched, back againstthe wall.

I rest the laptop on myself and ask, “You can seethe screen okay?”

“Mmhm.” She puts the popcorn on the nightstand onher side. “How was the match? You guys had to play in the rain.”

“Yeah, it was tough. But we played well.” I squintat her. “I scored two goals. What’s my reward?”

She purses her lips. “When was it decided you’dget a reward for scoring?”

I smirk. “Back in the woods, when you let me grindon your ass.”

Her eyes flutter, and her cheeks redden. She jutsher chin to the laptop. “The movie.”

“Okay, okay.” I chuckle.

Turning off the lamp, I press play and relaxbeside her asThe Night Housestarts.
