“I’m sure I would,” he hits back in a low andflirty voice. “I enjoyed the other one—Brutal Prince.”
“You read?” I mock.
He chuckles. “Yeah, I read, and often.”
I lose my composure and tumble into the depths ofhis gray hue, noting how the sunlight emphasizes his presence, making himappear almost angelic.
But there’s nothing innocent about this guy. I’mconvinced he came out of the darkness to be my undoing, and I am an openvessel, unraveling under his power and uncontrollably letting him in.
Our eyes remain locked for what feels like acentury until someone coughs.
I break the connection and look at my friends.
“Uh, we’re heading to class,” Scarlett says, aknowing smile on her face.
Scowling, I check my phone for the time. “But youhave until—”
“Early start,” she throws in.
“Yeah.” Nichole bounces her gaze between Caleb andme. “You two are cute.”
Both straighten as fast as possible and quickenoff.
Caleb’s sudden touch jolts my focus back to him.He brushes my bare arm with the back of his hand and starts moving upward.
“Eres la mitad que falta enmi alma.” The way every word rollsoff his tongue ignites an inferno in my body.
I damn near want to attackhim like a hungry feline and sink onto his…
“Ugh.” I break out of thespell and swat his hand away.“What was that?”
He sniffs. “A line from a Spanish novel.”
I twist my lips. “Spanish novel?”
“Yep. I told you. I read.” He pulls his mouth intoa half-smile. “Want to know what I said?”
“Nope. It’s you, so I’m sure it’s somethingperverted.”
Caleb dips his head and snorts.
Tucking my kindle into the bag, I rise from the grassand fix my dress.
He straightens as well. “Let’s do somethinglater.”
“I have plans later.”
Distaste falls over his face. “You do, with me.”
“Ha.” I click my tongue and turn to leave, only tohalt as I remember Aaron’s starting as the soccer team’s assistant today.Glancing back sideways, I tell Caleb, “Take it easy at practice. Don’t doanything crazy.”
He smirks. “Worried about me, baby?”
I roll my eyes at him. “Only your reactions.” Idrape the bag over my shoulder and strut down the path, hoping Aaron doesn’tend up with a broken bone later.
The team’s about to warm up, but I’m frozen inplace, confused about why Aaron’s here.
“You lost or something?” I grit.
