“Almost two weeks.”
“How do you find it so far?” she asks.
I hum before answering, “It’s been quite eventful.Um, I suppose I should thank your husband.”
Her cinnamon-brown eyes flicker in her confusion.“Sorry?”
“We’ve both suffered because of Luca.”
She utters a soft gasp. “Now you’re with Alessandro?”
“I know what you’re thinking,” I say. “He’s thatbastard’s brother. How could I, right?” That’s what I keep asking myselfin regards tothese intense feelings.
Her response is a shake of her head. “What…” Sheclears her throat. “Um, how did you and Luca cross paths?”
“He left my sister for dead.”
Empathy veils her face, and she presses her eyesshut for a moment. “I’m so sorry.”
“So am I, about your father.”
She nods. “Luca was quite a monster.”
“He sure was. It’s good your husband erased himfrom this world.”
Solari observes me in quiet for a few beats. “Fromyour obvious, reasonable anger towards Luca, it’s a bit surprising that you’rehere with Alessandro.”
“It’s complicated.” I glance in his direction. He’s trying to play it off, but I can tell he’s keeping an eye onme.“Fate is at work, it seems,” I murmur before looking back at Solari.
“Tesoro?” a deep voice calls out.
We both turn at the same time.
DomenicoMartelli’spresence is intimidating.
Intense love burns in his dark eyes.
An obsessed man. He wants her back at his side.
I didn’t have to hear it from Alessandro. It’squite apparent that Domenico would fuck up anyone who attempts to harm Solari.
She touches my arm, saying softly, “It was nicemeeting you, Tiana. Take care.” Her expression and tone seem sincere.
“You too,” I reply, watching as she moseys off.
Domenico kisses her cheek before draping his armaround her waist.
After a brief exchange with Pietro, they head fromthe event with Emanuele Martelli, two guards trailing them.
My heart skips a beat when I flick back toAlessandro.
His intriguing gaze is already on me.
As he starts over, I free the tightness in mythroat and raise my chin.
“What was that about?” he asks the second hereaches me. “You were talking to Solari.”
I shrug a shoulder. “She was saying hello. She’snice.”
