“How did you even find me?” the monster’s brotherquestions, dragging me from my thoughts. “Who’s your link?”

“You must take me for a fool. If I tell you that, you’ll kill him.” Maybe he should. That asshole Zeno assured me LucaFattorewould be here tonight.

“Soit’s a man.”Alessandro crumples his thick dark brows as if contemplating.

God. He resembles Luca so much, if not a morehandsome version, with his sharp and muscular face. Enthralling midnight-blueeyes that one could mistake for black in low lighting. Soft beard and sleekdark hair, tousled on top.

His attractive features would appeal to me if Iwere interested in a scorching hook-up while in Sicily.

But it’s the opposite.

He infuriates me, and I damn near want to claw hisfucking face off.

“You can leave,” Alessandro says coolly, lookingat the drinks I ordered.

“Give me my gun, and I’ll be on my way.” I’ll needmy weapon just in case Zeno has something in store for me at the Inn. Sendingme here is indeed suspicious.

Alessandro snorts. “Those eyes tell me the secondI return yourgun, you’ll shoot me in the head.”

I swallow hard. “Why would I do that? You’re nothim.”

“No, but I’m his brother.” He wiggles his finger. “That’senough reason for you to kill me.” He motions to the drinks and says, “Have asip.”

I suck my teeth. “You’ve realized I drugged thewhiskey as a plan B.”

He curls his brows while watching me. “What if Ihadn’t? Were you going to tell me, considering you now know I’m not the man youseek?”

I raise a shoulder in a nonchalant shrug. “It hadslipped my mind.”

“Pfft.” His lingering gaze causes an uneasy shift inmy stomach. “You’ve prepared for this moment. Must be so disheartening that itwas all for nothing.” He angles his head. “Have you ever even killed before?”

That taunting undertone pisses me off.

Chin high, I reply honestly, “No. I’ve never takena life, but I was ready to pop that cherry tonight because LucaFattoredeserved to die.”

He releases a low rumble and clicks his tongue.“What will you do now? Hm? So much wasted effort.”

I dip my head and glare at him. “Are you expectingme to cry? I have no tears left.”

His jaw tightens.

“Runi,” he grunts. “Takeher outside. Too many curious eyes in the club, and I have questions.”

“Ugh!” I squirm as his burly scarred-facebodyguard clutches my arm and hauls me from the chair. “Let go of me, youbrute!”

Alessandro follows as the guards pull me throughthe crowd and out the back exit into the alley. Faint lights offer enoughcoverage to see their faces.

The men release me but block me from leaving.

I suppress the fear and remain rigid. “Damn liar.I thought you were letting me go.”

Alessandro sticks my gun inside his jacket.“You’re free to leave as soon as you give me the name of the man who sent youto me.”

“He obviously made a mistake,” I clip.

He barks out a mocking laugh. “Everyone in Sicilyknows Luca is dead, woman. Your friend had other motives.”

Fuck. It could very well be that Zeno wanted touse me to kill Alessandro. Well, screw him.
