SIXTEEN
Pew.
The silencer on my rifle concealed another kill.
“I’ve got next, Boss,” Raquim whispered into the comm device.
“Lay low. Save your bullets to save her in case I get in a jam.”
“No fun,” he groaned.
“This isn’t fun, Raq. This is war.”
Pew.
Another one fell to his death.
Pew.
Pew.
Pew.
Pew.
Bullets ripped through my targets one after the other.
Pew.
Pew.
Pew.
“Alright, I’m going in.”
I used the access point I’d created through the professional landscaping design of the yard. Gates covered the entire compound, but there were a few weak spots that were patched with greenery, specifically bushes. I’d found them with ease.
There were three in total. I was perched behind one. Raquim was on the other side of the estate, posted behind the second one. The third one was at the very back of the property. We’d already cleared it out. There was nothing breathing back there but the plants.
“I’m right behind you.”
My legs moved swiftly across the lawn. I stepped over the corpses that had fallen victim to my wrath. I reached the door and pushed it open with ease. Instead of entering, I waited for the first fool to exit. Baffled, one of the soldiers stepped out onto the porch.
I pulled him close, let my rifle fall by my side, and dug into his flesh with my knife. I covered his mouth to conceal his despair. When his body grew limp, I laid him on the ground gently and waited for my next victim.
One by one, I cleared every Colombian soldier placed to disable threats to their boss until I reached their boss. Beside him lay my precious Princess. Unclothed. Unbothered. And, unconscious.
I composed myself. She was so beautiful, but she was so fucking difficult to understand. How someone could be flawed and flawless at once was baffling, but there lie the example. Shewas unlike anyone I’d ever encountered and she was mine. I just needed her to understand it.
I couldn’t keepmy eyes off her. It hadn’t been a full forty-eight hours since I’d been in her sweet embrace. I wanted to give her the space she needed to rest and reset. Malaya and I had been reluctant to leave without her, but we packed our bags and made our way to Berkeley regardless.
I didn’t expect the call I’d gotten and I didn’t expect to be in another country dragging her pretty ass out of another nigga’s crib. But, I didn’t regret a second of the time she’d made me waste. I’d do that shit all over again if it came down to it. Roulette needed the lesson she’d just been given.
Judging by the smile on her face as she massaged her temple, it wasn’t the only lesson she needed. I stood up and headed to the back of the place where a door separated the bedroom from the rest of the cabin.
“Roulette!”
Her ass lifted from the seat as my voice boomed through the cabin. It had caught her off guard. When she turned toward me, her eyes had grown a size bigger between her swollen eyelids. How she was even more irresistible in distress was beyond me.
