Page 27 of His Blazing Witch

"Ready, ladies?" asks Ben from behind the door.

Bonnie couldn't be here tonight as she had an unexpected night shift, but of course Ben is coming with us. Kelsi and I finally leave my bedroom, Spark following us. Ben whistles when he sees our outfits and me with makeup.

"Sexy ladies! Damn, this is my first time going to a club with two chicks and neither is my girlfriend. Sad."

"At least we’re not your sisters!" chuckles Kelsi, grabbing her shoes.

"Any news from your brother?" I ask, putting on a pair of dangerously high heels as well.

"He'll join us there as agreed," nods Ben. "Danny might come a bit later than planned, he's busy with work. It's okay, though, we can wait for them inside the nightclub."

I nod and we go on our way. I can't bring Spark, but the kitty seems to know already. He purrs a bit when I caress his head before leaving, and simply sits in the hallway, staring as we close the door.

Once again, I love the car ride. I'm even more ecstatic that we are finally going to another location! I have been waiting for this all day. I’ve barely been able to contain my excitement since I woke up. I feel my heartbeat accelerate gradually as Ben drives us toward the nightclub, and I can't help but send worried glances at my tracking bracelet. It's still beeping green, not matching my internal excitement.

I hear the music of the nightclub as soon as we get to the parking lot. It's muffled, but the beat is strangely resonating through me. I turn to Kelsi, but it doesn't seem like she hears it... at least not yet.

"There won't be any problems because I'm human, right?" she asks as we leave the car.

Ben laughs.

"If a witch can come, a human shouldn't be a problem! The club is open to everyone, but mostly owned and frequented by werewolves."

Just like he said, to my surprise, we have no problem getting in. The bouncer barely glances our way and gives us an approving nod. We follow Ben inside.

The music is very loud in there, and I am a bit surprised as we enter.

The place is absolutely crowded with people. Women in short outfits that don't make my top look out of place and many men are bare-chested too, everyone dancing to the wild music. The DJ is on an elevated platform, and the strobe lights are sending flashes in all directions. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the music, the movements, the violent lights. Kelsi grabs my hand, looking a bit lost too, and we keep following Benjamin further into the club.

We have to squeeze and fight our way through the crowd, and I make sure to stay behind Ben. I didn't expect this. Having so many bodies dancing and bouncing around me, so many faces, so much movement. I don't feel too well, but I try to focus on following the redhead through this battlefield. Finally, we get to the bar, and I let out a big sigh of relief.

"You okay?" screams Kelsi above the crowd.

I nod, but honestly, I'm not at my best. Those flashing lights are annoying. I feel like I see less and less every time they hit my eyes, even though I’m trying to avoid them. I try to take deep breaths and control myself. I'm hot. I don't know why, but I feel horribly hot. Well, it is probably hot in here, but still. My skin is reacting to this, and I feel my own goosebumps sending shivers down my spine.

Someone pushes a drink between my fingers, but I can't focus on the red mixture. I need to go there. There's something going on, across the crowd, something I need to see. I turn around, fighting the flashes and squinting my eyes to try and find it. What is it? I feel just like when I heard those screams. This sense of urgency, that something's going on that I need to latch onto. There's... something.

I detach myself from the bar despite the voices calling me, and I submerge myself into the sea of people. Everyone is dancing around me, ignoring me. Don't they hear it? This... sound. I don't know what to call it. It's like a voice or an echo. Something calling me, telling me where to go. I push someone and struggle to get past another group. I'm squeezed between so many bodies, it's infuriating. Just let me through!

Finally, my eyes catch a silhouette. I stop for a second, but now that I've seen it, I need to go there. I need to see him. I look from afar, trying to print his features in my mind. Black hair and a leather jacket. I can only see his back, though, and everything in my head screams for him to look at me. Look at me, look this way! I'm right here...

What the hell is wrong with me? I'm pulled by a force I don't understand, fighting my way through the crowd. My eyes try not to let go of his silhouette, despite the strobe lights that blind me time and time again. I'm almost there! I want to catch him, grab his arm, I'm just a few feet away...

"Hey!"

I stop, someone just stepped in my way. I glare at the guy, with his drink spilled on his outfit. I ignore him to step aside and go on my way, but he suddenly grabs my arm with his large hand. It hurts!

"You could apologize!" he yells.

"Let me go!"

I glance behind him. No, no, where did he go? The guy is gone, and I'm trapped here with this big idiot! That guy looks like a bear with the face of a rat, and the smell of an empty bottle. That jerk made me lose him! I'm furious and glare at him, struggling to free my arm.

"You should learn to say sorry, little girl!"

"I said let me go!"

I feel my fire get agitated inside. I can't lose control now, not with so many people around, but if this guy doesn't let go...! He still has his hand on my arm, holding it tightly, and he even steps forward.
