This wasn’t good for my situation, because they couldn’t focus on protecting me from my father if they ended up assaulted from all sides. I would have to find a way into that meeting, so I knew the plan. I would need to know if I needed to run or if I could convince them to focus on me first.

Survival was my only instinct right now.

“I appreciate you telling me this. Looks like I need to call a meeting,” he replied as he ushered the stripper out.

At the end of the week, Tony called the members to church, and I followed them in. Blended into the crowd. I had cooked up a plan that would either get me thrown out on my ass or ensure my safety forever. At least between these walls.

Once everyone was in the room and the meeting was about to begin, one of the guys noticed I was sitting at the table and brought it to Tony’s attention. Tony turned and gave me a look that said not to give him any shit, but I stayed in my seat after all I had a right to be there. He cleared his throat after I didn’t make a move to leave. There was something I needed to make everyone aware of and it had me nervous as hell.

“I have just as much right to be here as any of you mother fuckers.” I wiggled my ass deeper into the seat.

“Like hell you do, you aren’t a member of this club. The only reason you’re here is because I said you could be for your safety, and now of course because you’re fucking Cam,” Tony roared at me.

“Actually, this gives me the right to be here.” I lifted the leather jacket from my lap and turned my arm so he could see the scabbing tattoo on my bicep.

“What the fuck, Phoebe? When did that happen and why the hell didn’t I know about it?” he yelled.

I knew I was in trouble, but I wanted to be a part of something other than a group of ladies that had earned my “father” money with their pussies. I looked down at my lap for a moment before I lifted my eyes to meet his.

“I wanted it to be a surprise,” I replied softly.

“I bet Cameron knew about it didn’t he?” he snarled as he turned to Cameron.

“He is my boyfriend so what do you think, Tony?” I said sarcastically.

I knew this was not going to be good, and I might end up getting Cam kicked out.

I caught Cameron’s gaze and pleaded with my eyes for him to play along. I could tell that he was pissed, and knew he had a right to be since I hadn’t told him anything about it. I hadn’t really thought about what my actions might do to him before I did them, and I was realizing that it was wrong of me to not include him in the decision I’d made since we’re supposed to be a couple. I was thinking I might have done the wrong thing by being secretive about it. I had to fix it, but I had no idea how to do that. The question was, would I even be able to?

Chapter Ten

Cameron

Anger coursed through me as I listened to the exchange between Tony and Phoebe. She had done something behind his back as well as mine, and now, my career was in jeopardy. That was the one thing I asked her not to do when I accepted the deal, but it seemed like she had already done whatever it was they were fighting about. I watched as they bickered back and forth until Tony’s gaze met mine.

“Did you know about this? I mean, you’ve been fucking her and all. I would think she’d tell you about something like this,” he snapped at me.

Her eyes begged me to do something, so I braced myself for what might follow and looked Tony in the eye. I knew what I was about to say might take away the family I’d made in the club, but Phoebe needed my help.

“Yeah, I knew about it. I mean, she’s with me now, so why not have her be a full-fledged member of the group?” I said with an edge to my voice.

“Don’t you think you two should’ve come to me with this idea?” he snarled at us.

“We didn’t say anything to anyone about it because we knew you’d never go for it, because you don’t want her in the club and she wanted it to be a surprise,” I replied with a defensive tone.

“If she didn’t make herself such a fucking nuisance and harass Kara to the point of a mental breakdown, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Also, I don’t like fucking surprises so take that down for future reference,” Tony growled as he leveled his gaze at Phoebe.

“I don’t see anything wrong with her being in the club, especially since she’s with me now. She could turn out to be a good asset if you’d give her a chance,” I directed at Tony.

I knew I was taking a big risk talking to him that way, but I couldn’t keep myself from defending her, and I had no idea why. Or maybe I just didn’t want to admit why.

I knew all the stories about her from the past and the hard times Tony had with her, but there was something about her that made me want to defend her and make Tony see he needed to give her a chance. I saw some of her childlike innocence still deep inside, and I wanted to protect that part of her, so she didn’t totally lose her light.

“Listen, kid, you’ve only known her a short time, and most of that time I’m willing to bet you’ve spent between her legs, so don’t talk to me about giving her chances. You don’t know her like I do. You have no idea what the bitch is capable of,” Tony said as he glared at her.

“You didn’t think I was a bitch when I was on my knees sucking your cock the way you liked,” Phoebe piped up from her seat at the corner of the table.
