But it’s okay.

Apparently he’s shit in bed. Looks it, to be honest. He’s as scrawny as they come. Clearly doesn’t know how to treat women either.

Alice turns around, signaling all three of us to come in.

We all share the same worried look, striding into the house after her, because Peter could walk in any second now.

And then we’d all be toast.

“Let’s start with the photograph.”Alice clasps her hands together and rests them on her knees. She sits on the edge of the couch, meeting Levi’s timid gaze. “Did you sleep with her?”

“I did.”

“Why?”

Levi flattens his expression. “Because I was stupid and not thinking straight.”

Cue the weak-ass apology.

Alice turns her head and deepens her gaze. “You threw it all away.”

“I know and, Alice, I’m so fucking sor?—”

“Ah,” interjects Lifesaver. “Alice didn’t invite you in to apologize. Spill.”

I sit back on the couch and try to relax because at least one of us should be, but it’s a difficult task when my head’s still catching up with the whole pregnancy situation.

This child can’t have the same unstable upbringing as me. Separation isn’t my concern here. Bratva complications are gonna tear this family apart, and it’s all Peter’s fault. That ignorant, stick-a-Band-Aid-over-it asshole. We wouldn’t be in this situation if the son of a bitch wasn’t so power hungry. The world’s biggest people pleaser too.

I hope he knows he’s not only put his daughter in danger, but his grandchild too.

On the subject of grandkids, how will he react if it ever gets out that Alice is pregnant?

I suppose it’s only a matter of time before the bump grows.

Until he’s asking which one of us oldies has working sperm so he can buy it off us and make his own creation, Peter Junior—next in line for mayor.

He strikes me as the kind of guy that’s into nepotism.

Prolonging the legacy and all that.

“It started when I…slept with his wife.”

“Whose wife?” presses Alice.

“Vlad’s wife.”

“The boss’ wife?” I snort. “Good form, man.”

“I didn’t think he’d find out.”

Like keeping secrets from the Bratva leader ever works out.

“Anyway,” Levi says. “He did. Then he tells me that he wants your father dead”—he turns to Alice—”and that I’m gonna help himif I value my own life.”
