“No!” Stacey grabs onto Aurelia’s arms. “It’s Sabrina!” the lioness cries. “Sabrina is missing!”

“She’s not in the animus dorm?” Minnie asks.

“No, I’ve checked. None of her friends there have seen her for a while, either. Oh, fuck!”

I veer towards the anima dorm, Lyle shooting Stacey questions in rapid succession, and then to Christine at the door to the building. But the gargoyle seems confused.

“Don’t recall,” she says, scratching her head and making an odd grating sound. “Haven’t seen her come in or out.”

She lets us into the dorm and I assume the lead, taking the steps two at a time. I know Sabrina’s history. I know her criminal record. I know of what use she could be to the wrong sort of people. I also know of her value to Aurelia and the insane lengths my regina will go to for not only her mates, but her friends.

Suspicion is a wave that crests as I reach the third-floor corridor, scenting the air and striding down. My footfalls areheavy thumps on the old carpet. The others race behind me, Lyle with angry, dark energy pulsing around him.

I kick open the door to Sabrina and Raquel’s bedroom and that wave inside of me crashes with certainty.

“Not missing.” Everyone gathers behind me as I point to the wall. “Taken.”

Aurelia lets out a scream.

Because over Sabrina’s bed, nailed with a black knife, is the bloody, spotted, cut-off end of a leopard’s tail.
