He stares me down, hard, commanding, unmovable. “That’s all it can be.”

I snarl at him, baring my teeth, “You’re alyingasshole, Lyle Pardalia.”

He strides out of the apartment, leaving only a chill to rival Scythe’s in his wake. Even Savage’s warmth wrapping around mine can barely stave away that icy burn.

Chapter 69

Aurelia

With my arms wrapped around myself, I ascend the stairs to the hidden floor in the animus door in front of Eugene and Savage, the latter of whom holds my duffle bag.

I planned to fulfil my promise to Savage and spend weekends in his dorm, but between one thing and another, we’ve never had the chance. It’s been delayed long enough. People have already been wondering where I went those days I had my casts on and stayed in Lyle’s apartment. The last thing I want is people getting suspicious about me getting special treatment.

I made my point in that courtroom the day my bones were broken and it seems to have granted me some respect amongst the animuses. Respect or fear of my unstable mental state. One of the two.

And afterthatconversation with Lyle, I’m definitely not feeling any sort of stable, but it’s time for me to bite the bullet and finally sleep in Savage’s den and in the same room as Scythe and Xander.

“Everything will be okay, pup,”Raquel’s voice floats into my mind.“Just rest easy. Minnie is okay. She was shy with Yeti at first, but I think seeing their mating marks made them happy. She cried, and he held her. It was beautiful. He’s feeding her now. Mr Pardalia made sure.”

“I just wish I’d been there to support her.”

Raquel is silent for a moment.“She has her mate now. We’ll miss her in our dorm, but she is where she belongs… and so are you. With your mates, Lia.”

Raquel is right. Fuck, they are really right on this.

“But we just wanted to check.”Raquel’s mental voice turns tentative.“You didn’t accidentally put Boneweaver magic on the rest of us did you? With the mating mark thing?”

“No.”I say quickly. “I checked as soon as I realised.”

There’s silence and then,“Sabrina says she doesn’t know whether to be insulted or relieved.”

I snort.“You’re all safe from me now.”

“Take care, Lia. We’ll see you soon.”

We close our mental connection as I walk into the living room of my mates’ hidden suite. So what Lyle kicked me out of his nest? I have a second one anyway.

I previously snooped around here when I snuck in that one time to take revenge on Savage stealing my underwear, but the space feels completely different now. A little pang of sadness hits me, and for a moment, I want to steal my panties back from Lyle’s bedside table.

But I can’t. My anima keens and whines and I just… can’t. Taking that little piece of myself from his apartment feels so wrong and my anima vehemently agrees.

Scythe and Xander are, thankfully, not present when we enter, and Savage enthusiastically shows me and Henry around. My faithful ball of blue fluff immediately leaves me to take a detailed look at everything, and Eugene finds his usual perch on Savage’s bedside table.

I try to focus on my new way of living away from my dorm. There’s the main living area with couches, the dining table, andthe alcohol cabinet. There are a few adjoining rooms. The first is the massive bedroom with the three beds, the second has a giant TV and PlayStation set up, and the last one is a locked room Savage does not open. My wolf leads me into the bedroom and places my duffle bag on the bed in the middle. His bed. He grins at me and shows me the wardrobes allocated to each of them, and then leads me into the bathroom.

It’s huge and luxurious. All shiny black tile with ornate gold finishings and two chandeliers, all worthy of a dragon manor.

There’s a massive shower with three sparkling gold heads, with all their shower products lined into a recess in the tiled wall. Opposite that are three sinks beneath a wide mirror with a gilded frame of flying dragons.

Savage explains that Xander instructed the school’s magic to make adjustments for the three of them and, if he wants to, we can make a fourth set of everything. But I shake my head because I don’t actually think Xander would appreciate me coming in and changing things, being the awful serpent princess I am.

But it’s what’s on the other side of the showers that makes me gape a little. There’s a spa—no,poolwould probably be a more appropriate word—built into the floor. Ten people could easily fit within its depths, and it’s currently filled with steaming water that looks divine. There are black dragon-head faucets all around, ready to spew water from their mouths.

“I know,” Savage says proudly. “Wherever we go, we have to have something like this. Scythe needs it because he always has to be around water or he’s hard to deal with, and Xander needs it to blow off steam because…” Savage rubs the back of his head and gives me a grin. “Well, he also becomes hard to deal with.”

I step closer to him and trace a finger over his chest, covered in a T-shirt for once. “Does that mean you’re the only one who’s easy to deal with?”

He chuckles and places a hand over my own. “Nope. I’m still going to hassle you the entire time you’re here.”
