“I need to find Minnie,” I protest, slapping him on the hard muscles of his lower back.
But as he walks down the corridor, he’s too busy sniffing at my hip and growling.
“After we fuck, I’m going to pull the fangs out of every serpent here.”
I gulp because that’s literally the worst torture you can do to a serpent. My father only reserved it for extra special transgressions and I’ve never seen it used in person.
“You can’t do that Savage,” I say quickly. “It’s not right. There’s too much death already.”
He just growls again like he doesn’t agree. We make it up to the hidden floor at a rapid pace and I just make out Scythe’s slacks and business shoes before Savage reverently sets me down, sliding me down his front until I’m on my feet.
“Wait a minute!” Savage leans down and sniffs my neck, rapidly moving to the other side and then down beneath my breasts. He drops to his knees and presses his face right against my crotch, inhaling deeply. His nose rubbing against my slitsends a pang of pleasure through my core, but I realise there are other people in the room.
As well as Scythe and Xander sitting down, Beak, Yeti and a few wolves are also scattered around, drinking and smoking.
“Um, Savage?—”
“Lyle,” Savage growls into my vulva, his voice muffled. “FuckingLylewas here.”
“I’m a person, not a place!” I say, slapping him on the shoulder and darting a look at the other males. They are all averting their eyes. Apparently Savage trusts them enough to speak openly.
Savage looks up at me, hugging me around my ass and resting his chin on my pubic bone. “I know, you’remyperson.”
My stomach does a little flop and blood rushes to my face. I didn’t expect him to make me feel this way. Not at all.
“So he finally gave in.” Scythe says it like he already knew. His rasp is a pleasant sound against my eardrums, and my head snaps up of its own accord to stare at him. My heart aches like I haven’t seen him in years. He never came down to see me in my cave and he’s been missing more than a few classes.
He sits like a king, one arm draped across the back of the black leather couch, whiskey glass in the other hand. His business shirt has three buttons open, letting me see a glorious slither of his elaborately tattooed chest. There are flowers there as well as a skull. Under the tattoos, his skin is almost luminous, like it’s lit from within, and I wonder if he’s been for a swim recently.
Those glacial eyes bore into mine, before darting to my left as if he’s looking at something there, before they dart back.
“Are you trying to make me jealous, regina?” Savage growls, clambering to his feet. “Well, it’s fucking working.”
“I need to find Minnie,” I press. “Has anyone seen her?”
“Why are you worried about her?” It’s Scythe who asks me and I’m taken aback by the question because he sounds genuinely interested.
“I just need to see her.”
“She was down in the village,” Yeti grumbles, lounging in an armchair and looking very disgruntled. “In her usual snippy form.”
Scythe smirks at him, but then he’s back to looking at me and the smile is gone. He’s assessing me, and I don’t like it. I don’t look my best right now, and I’m not feeling my best either.
“Where have you been?” My voice comes out more accusatory than I intend.
“You don’t get to ask,” Xander snaps.
“Well, yeah I do, actually,” I snap. “If it’s anything to do with me.”
“Not everything is to do with you.”
I clench my jaw and glare at the dragon. Did he forget I was kidnapped today?
Scythe makes a gesture and Beak, Yeti and the others make their way out. I’m surprised they talk so openly with those males. They must really trust them.
I step away from the stairs to give them space to leave. Savage jumps up to sit on the dining table, swinging his legs and beaming at me like I’m his saviour.
“Come here,” Scythe says.
