RORY:Watch your back at all times! And don’t leave your house unless it’s for the mission or you absolutely have to.

MORGAN:For reals! I recommend either getting groceries like literally right now or getting them delivered lol. Oh, and also, DON’T TRUST ANYBODY!! I learned that one the hard way hehe.

JARED:Y’all stay safe this week. If it would make you ladies feel safer, Ken or I can accompany you if you need to go anywhere. Right Ken?

KEN:Roger that.

MORGAN:Thank you guys!! :)

LANDRY:Thanks!

JARED:Let’s regroup once we get our target tomorrow. Later guys.

Bexley and Olivia had also gotten in contact with their groups and began talking strategy, none of us disclosing anything that was discussed amongst our teams. I did, however, take Morgan’s advice on ordering groceries for Bexley and I. Olivia went home to grab a bag and come back, deciding to spend the week at our dorm since TJ was way too competitive to warn her if she was his target and would definitely kidnap her out of their own bed, while the rest of the guys in the group all had keys to her house. We couldn’t trust anyone but each other. I was glad to have her here with us, excited for a week-long sleepover with my two best friends.

From my understanding, Kaptan was the only one to not play this year, already having won his freshman year and deciding that was good enough for him. I wasn’t sure if Cashton had decided to participate, and I wasn’t about to ask Olivia if she knew, but since she kept talking about ‘the guys’ playing, it was safe to assume that he was.

We stayed up late listening to Olivia tell us stories about her time in Taken last year, eventually turning in around midnight, deciding to get some rest for tomorrow. I had no doubt that things would hit the ground running as soon as we received our targets.

Both girls fell asleep in my bed, and I actually managed to fall fast asleep with both of them between me and a comfort show playing softly in the background. I had no idea what to expect tomorrow, but after speaking with my team, the apprehension was slowly getting drowned out by the excitement.

CHAPTER 12

LANDRY

So far, so good. It had been over three days since Taken had started and I hadn’t gotten kidnapped yet, so I guess I could say I was doing pretty well. The team had decided that I would target Luke Bennet since I somewhat knew him from my history class. I had stalked him on all social media, relaying the intel to my team that he was on the Ivybrook golf team, lived in the Wellington Hall freshman dorms across campus, drove a silver Porsche Cayman GT4, and he had multiple photos on his public Facebook profile of takeout from Enoki—One of the sushi restaurants in town. Bingo.

It hadn’t been hard to find his email address on his LinkedIn, and I made a mental note to put all of my social media profiles on private the week of the games next year. Ken had downloaded some photoshop software, and less than an hour later, we had a perfect replica of an Enoki coupon for twentypercent off and free delivery. We had to make it tempting but still believable.

The next phase of the plan involved overnight shipping a custom Enoki polo shirt and ballcap. It’s funny the things you can get rush-ordered when enough money is involved.

I had been the one voted out of the girls to act out the part of the delivery driver, the group seeming to think that I would be somehow the best bet of luring him out of his room. According to his socials, he was into blondes for sure. Now, it was just up to me to figure out exactly how I would accomplish that. Of course, we first relied on the fact that he would fall for the fake email. And like the coupon, my act had to be tempting, but still believable enough that he didn’t put two and two together.

I already had my cover story. ‘My daddy has a gambling problem, he stopped sending me my allowance, so I picked up a part-time job in town, oh please oh please don’t tell anybody because it’s so embarrassing, what ever can I do to convince you to keep this secret for me?’ wink, wink. I mean, that was the short version. That, or I could just start crying. Men always get uncomfortable around crying women.

I had run the idea past the group and we were all in agreement that it might actually work as long as I stayed in character and didn’t push it too hard.

All I needed was to get him out into the hallway where Jared and Ken would be waiting around the corner. If I couldn’t get that to happen, I could resort to getting invited in, though I wasn’t sure where it would go from there. Was there a way to get chloroform on short notice? Maybe somebody in the group knew. Or was that too extreme? I didn’t see anything in the ruleslist about drugging people. Was chloroform even considered a drug? I had a lot of research to do for next year.
