Calvin regarded Ellery with a tinge of concern. On the one hand, Ellery seemed flustered in a good way by what they were doing. On the other, it was a lot for a newbie to take in.

Calvin dragged over an Ottoman so he could sit closer to his boy. “Ellery, I don’t want you to feel pressured or overwhelmed. We’ll start off slow, especially since you need to rest. And don’t worry, Daddy will take care of you.” Calvin winked. “But I think it would be wise to discuss a few more things first. If you have any hard limits, please tell me now. Plus, I’ll need your safeword. Sound good?”

Ellery’s jaw went slack. Finally, he seemed to give himself a mental shake and responded. “Uh, yeah. I mean, sounds great.”

Calvin brushed the loose hair back from Ellery’s forehead and thought he detected a slight shudder run through Ellery’s frame.

“Limits and safeword?”

“Oh, right. No piss or scat play, no passing me around or sharing, and no knife or blood play.” He frowned. “Actually, I’m no longer interested in exploring pain or impact play. I enjoy some light spanking, but no one’s been able to get me to come from a really painful one. I know some boys get off on that, but I don’t.

Ellery sighed, but it was more like a happy one than a melancholy one. “Man, it feels good to be able to say that out loud. I kept thinking maybe I’d get into it more if I found the right Dom, or if I got used to it or whatever. But I don’t have to now, do I?”

“Absolutely not.” Calvin took Ellery’s hand and gave it a squeeze. “I’m very proud of you for understanding that about yourself and being able to tell me. We’ll save spanking for punishments and the bedroom—but keep them light. Only if Daddy needs to remind his baby boy who’s boss.”

The same shudder was followed by lip licking as Ellery squeezed Calvin’s hand back. “That works.”

Calvin cleared his throat to keep from laughing. He sucked in a breath. “And what about age play? Is there anything you consider a hard limit regarding that at this point?”

Ellery’s brow creased and he lowered his gaze to their joined hands. After a few moments, he glanced up. “Honestly, I can’t think of anything. But since I’m not as knowledgeable about that type of play, maybe I could just safeword?”

“I’m all right with that. Although, if you’re curious or would like to have more info, there’s a reputable site I can refer you to that might answer some questions.” Calvin brought Ellery’s hand to his mouth and kissed his knuckles. “Safeword?”

Ellery blinked a few times. “S-sorry. My head is full of cotton today. I use lizard.”

Calvin arched his eyebrows. “Not that it’s necessary for me to know, but I’m curious. Why lizard?”

Ellery shrugged. “They freak me out. I figured if someone was doing anything to me that was freaking me out, I should have a word that went with it. That way, I wouldn’t forget.”

Calvin nodded. “Good. I approve.” He leaned over to press a kiss to Ellery’s forehead then rose. “I’ll go get your bib, so wait until Daddy comes back before you start. Okay?”

Ellery stared up at him, pressing his lips together as if experiencing an inner battle with himself. At last, he spoke. “Okay…Daddy.”

Calvin’s nostrils flared. Damn, but he was hard, balls aching with need and heart filled with a joy he hadn’t known in a long time. He tousled Ellery’s hair again, a silent reassurance that Ellery had pleased his Daddy.

Calvin glanced over his shoulder as he left the room and spotted Ellery running his fingers over the design on the cup then tentatively taking a sip. If only he could stand in the doorway and watch Ellery’s every move for this one of—what Calvin hoped would be—many firsts.

When Calvin re-emerged from the kitchen, he caught Ellery hastily slam down the sippy cup as if he’d been doing something wrong. Ellery gasped and swiped at a few stray droplets of juice that had splashed on his shirt.

“Oh no!” Ellery peered up at Calvin with a pained expression.

Calvin placed the bib on the antique mahogany coffee table at Ellery’s side then plucked some tissues from a box nearby.

“That’s all right, baby. Let me see your hand.”

Ellery complied immediately, his cheeks stained in a deep red. “I’m sorry. I was curious.”

Calvin smiled as he wiped the juice off Ellery’s fingers and dabbed at his shirt. It would probably stain, but the wheels in Calvin’s mind were whirring away. He’d buy his boy a thousand new shirts if need be.

“Nothing to be sorry for. All little boys are very curious, and Daddy didn’t give you any rules yet, did he?”

Ellery’s mouth formed a small ‘o’ and he shook his head. “No.”

“Then don’t worry about it.” Calvin pressed a kiss to the top of Ellery’s head then straightened.

Ellery took his hand back after Calvin let go and stared at the appendage as if it were magical. Calvin covered his mouth to hide a chuckle. He hadn’t been with a boy new to age play in a very long time, let alone with one he was so taken with. The combination had him bordering on giddy.

After regaining his composure, he retrieved the adult-sized, blue brushed terry bib from the table then held it open so Ellery could see the stitched elephant on the front.
