“Sort of. I mean, if we see a store that seems interesting we drop in. Right now we’re on the Santa Barbara pier. We’re waiting for a table in this really cool restaurant. Sean comes here all the time, so he was telling me about it.”

“Santa…? Oh. Uh, that sounds fun.”

So much for his plan of asking Tory over for that dinosaur movie fest.

“It’s awesome. We figured we’d stay here through the weekend since it’s already Thursday night and Silas hasn’t called.” Tory burst into laughter again. “Sean, stop. You know how ticklish I am!”

Oh. My. God.

“Should I start planning a bridal shower?”

“Don’t be silly, Jett. It’s still new.” Tory’s voice got low and muffled, so Jett assumed he was cupping his hand around the speaker. “I haven’t been this crazy for a guy in forever. He’s so amazing.”

“Wow, that’s great.” Jett swallowed past a lump in his throat. “He seems really nice.”

“A total sweetheart. Oh, hey. They’re calling his name. Talk to you soon!”

“Bye.”

Jett wasn’t sure Tory had even heard his goodbye. He dropped onto the sofa with a bounce, clutching the phone between his hands. Tory’s happiness meant the world to him. If anyone deserved it, Tory did. The tinge of jealousy Jett felt didn’t negate that one bit.

Tinge? No, it was more akin to a blast.

Jett glanced down at his phone. If Silas’s message wasn’t about rehearsal, whatever he’d said couldn’t be good. Perhaps he was calling him in for a meeting with the label execs tomorrow? Or maybe the label couldn’t be bothered and was leaving it up to Silas to explain to Jett that it wasn’t working out, that they’d decided to move on without him.

That would make sense. He deserved it. He’d behaved like an unprofessional asshole, had done it to himself. Plus, tomorrow was Friday. Perfect time to take out the trash so Silas and the band could start fresh on Monday.

Jett choked on a sob and tossed his phone aside.

Fine. Whatever.

If his doom was imminent, then he’d might as well have one last hurrah as the big star over at Sparklers before everyone discovered his shame.

With new resolve, Jett jumped up from the sofa to turn himself into the hottest diva who had ever diva’d.

Let the party begin.
