“No—”
“Fuck.” He holds his hands up. Like he’s afraid of hurting me more.
What a moron.
“Sterling,” I snap. He meets my gaze. “Quit acting weird. I like it rough. Now go get me some tissue.”
I watch his jaw work before he spins and strides back to the bathroom, toned butt cheeks on full display.
He’s back a moment later and stays quiet after handing me a clump of tissues.
He keeps waiting until I sit up and start to slide off the bed.
“Dammit, Courtney.” He darts forward and grips my waist to help me down.
“I’m fine,” I tell him, but he doesn’t let me go. Our still naked bodies pressed together.
He reaches one hand up to lightly grip my chin. “Are you telling me the truth? Do you really like it rough?”
His tone is even, but his eyes are heated.
“I do. Though I’ll admit, it’s a new revelation.”
“How new?”
I drag my teeth over my bottom lip. “Very new.”
Sterling makes a sound low in his throat. “You better be telling the truth.”
“Why’s that?” I can’t help but ask.
He slides his hand around from my chin to the back of my neck. “Because if some other man ever got rough with you…”
“That’s never happened,” I tell him honestly. “Never in the bedroom and never in any other way.”
He flexes his jaw as he nods. “Go get dressed.”
Chapter 132
Courtney
When I stepout of my little bathroom, I find Sterling sitting on the bed, leaned back against the wall, with a bag of sandwich cookies in his lap.
All the lights are off in the cabin, but one of the camping lamps has appeared at Sterling’s side, set to low, filling the room with a nice glow.
Silently, I climb onto the bunk.
I’m in the same pair of pajamas as earlier, and he’s in boxers. Just boxers.
I sit facing him. “Cookies?”
He nods, then holds the open package out to me.
This is one of the food items that he left in the cupboard.
I select one, the chocolate filling too much to resist, and take a bite.
He does the same.
