Page 97 of Fear of Intimacy

I took a quick picture of my feet and sent it.

Trevor: That just made me harder.

A giggle escaped my lips. I wanted to call and hear his voice but with Bryton in the same room that would be awkward as hell.

Tasha: Feel free to jerk off to that picture.

I made sure to add a winky face and eggplant emoji before I hit send. I could just picture Trevor lying on the bed, propped up, shirtless, looking sexy as hell.

Tasha: Aren’t you going to give me something in return?

Five minutes passed without a response. I blindly watched the TV but my mind was going wild with ideas on what he’d send me. When my phone finally buzzed, I snatched it from my lap so fast. As soon as I clicked on the photo, my mouth went dry.

It was a picture of him lying back on some pillows, abs on display with tattoos littering his skin. I didn’t even hesitate to save the photo. It would make a great screensaver.

Trevor: Wishing you were here.

If he wasn’t four hours away, I would have been in my car driving to see him. Again, away games sucked ass.

Tasha: Hurry home to me tomorrow.

Trevor: I’ll be back before you’re done with your patients.

With a cheesy grin, I settled back into the couch with myphone glued to my hand. If he couldn’t be here, I’d settle for his cute texts.

“The guys are almostready and will meet us at the club,” Josie said as I leaned over to finish my makeup in the mirror.

The guys got back three hours ago. The first game they played three days ago, they lost but yesterday's game they annihilated the other team. Sadly, I only caught snippets of them between patients. But I was finally realizing why Josie got so into hockey when watching. I found myself yelling at my phone multiple times. I was starting to become one ofthosepeople. Although, I couldn’t bring myself to care because I was cheering for my boyfriend.

“Are you ready for tonight?” Josie asked from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, I sent her a confused look. “This will be your first real outing as a couple with Trevor. Wouldn’t be surprised if the paparazzi showed up.”

I had pushed aside the fact that Trevor and I were now Toronto’s newest obsession. Every day, my phone had tons of new notifications from Instagram with new followers. Almost every single picture on my page had comments from people, a mix of good and bad. After reading some, I vowed not to do it again. There were only so many ‘she’s too ugly for Trevor’ comments one person could take.

I wasn’t surprised by the reaction, though. Trevor was a big deal around here. Add in the fact he hasn’t had a serious girlfriend in years, and it made front-page news. It felt like the two of us had replaced Josie and Wyatt as the headline couple. That was, until they announced their engagement. Then Trevor and I would be long forgotten.

“It will be fine.” I waved her off. “I knew what I was signing up for.” It came with the territory when dating famous hockey players. I could handle a few cameras pointed at me.

“When are you going to announce your engagement?” I asked as I straightened up, smoothing my hands down my dress.

“We’re taking pictures on Sunday for it, and then we’ll do a big announcement.”

“You can’t just post a picture of the ring, huh?”

“Wy’s manager said it’s better for us to do it and get ahead of the papers and social media,” Josie said with a huff. Oh, everyone was going to have a hay day when their announcement dropped. “But for now, we’re enjoying our engagement just the two of us.”

“It’s never too late to dump Wyatt and marry me instead.”

“We can elope.” Josie shot me a grin.

“Just get me a big ring, and I’m all set.”

“Pretty sure people thought we were together in uni.” Josie snorted.

“Remember that party we went to senior year at the soccer frat house?” I asked, moving across her bedroom to grab my purse.

“The one after midterms right?”

“Yeah that one. We were having fun, minding our own business dancing when that frat guy came up to us and asked for my number. He wouldn’t take no for an answer.” I rolled my eyes at the memory.
