“It’s been so long since we’ve had a girl’s night,” Tasha said, pouring tequila in the margaritas she was currently making. “Mila’s coming right?”
“Yeah, she texted me that she’d be here soon. Lydia’s on her way too.” I finished putting a bunch of snacks in bowls, looking forward to including Mila in our little girl’s night. There were no wild plans, just the four of us on the couch, drinking and talking about everything and anything. I also planned to put Wyatt’s hockey game on.
Right on cue, a knock sounded on my door. Leaving Tasha to finish up with the drinks, I went to answer the door. A smiling, but nervous looking Mila stood, holding a bottle of wine.
“Hey!” I greeted stepping to the side. “Come in.”
“Thanks for inviting me. I brought wine.”
“Perfect.” I led her to the kitchen where Tasha greeted her with a wide smile. “We’re happy you came. Make yourself at home.” I waved around my apartment.
“Your place is so cute.”
“Thanks. I’ve slowly made it my own when I moved in a year ago.” I moved around my kitchen grabbing glasses for all of us.
“I still can’t believe you had no clue Wyatt lived in the same building,” Tasha commented.
“You guys never ran into each other?” Mila leaned against the kitchen counter and asked.
“Nope. Or at least, not that I remember.” There probably were a few times we passed by one another and had no clue.
“It’s fate that you two got stuck together in that elevator,” Mila said.
“Most definitely,” Tasha agreed.
The three of us stood in the kitchen talking for a few minutes, before another knock came and the door opened. I grinned as Lydia strutted into the apartment also carrying a bottle of wine.
We were set for girls’ night.
While Lydia was my boss, she also had that cool, older sister vibe to her. She was only a few years older than me at twenty-nine, although she looked younger with her shorter blonde hair and green eyes.
“Mila, this is Lydia.” I introduced the two, taking Lydia’s wine and putting it on the counter. “Her boyfriend plays with Wyatt.” While the two greeted each other I moved to the living room, turning the television to the sports channel.
Wyatt’s away game was set to air in the next twenty minutes. It felt surreal that I would soon watch the guy I’m seeing on the television.
“Margarita time,” Tasha called out.
In a matter of minutes, all four of us nestled in the living room, margaritas in hand, snacks on the table, and the sports channel on. We still had a few minutes before the game started, which meant plenty of time for the girls to grill me about Wyatt.
“How are things going?” Tasha asked, twisting on the couch and throwing her legs over my lap. “You’ve been a little off the radar the last few days.”
I felt myself flush with all their eyes on me. Admittedly, I’d been a bit…busy the last two days. If I wasn’t at work, I was with Wyatt. Let’s just say his apartment had undergone a good christening lately. It was like the two of us opened the floodgates, and now there was no stopping us. We simply couldn’t get enough of each other. In some ways, Wyatt traveling for this week’s game was probably a good thing. Can’t always be wrapped up in our own bubble.
“She’s blushing,” Lydia smirked, sipping her drink.
“Something happened,” Mila said, her eyebrows raised.
“Come on, tell us,” Tasha prodded my thigh with her foot.
“Yeah, was he good with his mouth?” Lydia asked.
“Or his fingers?” Lydia added.
I glared at all three of them, which only made them laugh. Taking a huge gulp of my drink, I shook my head. “You guys are the worst.”
