“Nope. Took him a bit to get used to the switch, but by the end of practice it was like he’d always played that position.” It was so cute watching her freak out yet try to act like she wasn’t.

“Woah, that’s…”

“Impressive,” I supplied. “None of us noticed that about him until you said something.”

“I’m basically a hockey guru,” she joked.

“So it seems. Though I must confess, there’s another reason for my visit,” I said after a moment. “I was wondering if you’d like to come over for dinner later?”

“At your place?”

“If that’s okay? Or we can go out somewhere if you're more comfortable with that.”

“I’d love to come over.”

“Any preference on what you want to eat?”

I knew what I wanted to eat, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to voice it.

“I’m good with anything. No allergies either.”

“Perfect,” I smiled, my heart soaring as she returned it.

“Do you want some wine?” Wyatt called out from his kitchen.

“Sure.” I replied, keeping my eyes firmly on the view before me. When Wyatt invited me over for dinner, he’d failed to mention he lived in the penthouse. I didn’t even know our apartment buildinghada penthouse.

The view was amazing. Up on the 15th floor, you could see most of downtown Toronto. I was certain I could see part of the stadium from here. The slow descent of the sun cast a golden glow over the city.

I can’t wait to see what it looks like with all the city lights.

“Here you go.” Wyatt appeared at my side and handed me a glass of wine.

“Thanks.” I looked away from the view to an even better one. Wyatt was casually dressed in a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt, and damn, he looked amazing. “Why didn’t you tell me you have such a great view? My window overlooks the parking lot.”

That wasn’t the only drastic difference between our apartments. Aside from the view, Wyatt’s apartment was at least three times the size of mine—and I hadn’t considered minesmall. I had a decent sized apartment with a kitchen and dining room, living room, good sized bedroom and bathroom.

From the moment I walked through Wyatt’s door, I was greeted by a spacious living area and stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. A full-sized kitchen with gorgeous countertops were to the right, with a huge dining table off to the side.

Before I got sidetracked with the view of the city, I noticed a staircase on the opposite side of the room that I assumed led to the master bedroom. There also appeared to be a hallway leading to other rooms. All in all, the place was incredible.

“The view at night is great, but sunrise is the best.”

“I can imagine. Bet the view was the selling point.”

“It was. Well, for me it was. When I brought my mom over for a look, it was the kitchen that sold her.”

I smiled at the mention of his mom. He spoke about her often, and it was clear as day that he loved her very much.

“Whenever she’s over you can’t pry her from the kitchen,” Wyatt continued.

“Do your brothers come over often?”

“My older brother Landon will come over for a few beers and a game, once in a while. My younger brother Mateo would live here if he could. Says it's a real ‘babe magnet’.”
