“I can make you moan louder,” he whispered in my ear. Blushing ferociously, I shoved him away. He let a loud laugh throwing his head back.
“You’re a jerk,” I said.
“I could say I don’t mean it, babe, but I do.” He smiled cheekily at me. I rolled my eyes, sipping my drink. The next few minutes were quiet, the only sounds the crashing of the waves and a few yells from children who chased one another. The slightly warm water lapped at our feet, which were bare since we removed our shoes earlier. Our shoulders brushed one another since our hands were full from our shoes and drinks. We were a little bit down the beach when I suddenly heard my name being called. Turning, I saw two figures heading our way. Beside me, I felt Liam tense.
“Jenna!” a familiar voice said again as they got closer. When I saw who it was, I grinned.
“Devon!” I set my shoes down on the dry sand.
“Hey,” he said, coming to hug me. I hugged his tall frame back but pulled back quickly after I heard Liam growl beside me.
“Devon,” a new voice said. Wait, I’ve heard that voice before. Looking over Devon’s shoulder, I saw Grayson Patterson, Liam’s other best friend and his best man.
“Grayson?” Liam said, surprised. Devon stepped away from me and went to stand next to Grayson, who was now stopped in front of us.
“Liam? Jenna? What are you doing here?” he asked.
“Wait, you know Jenna and Liam?” Devon asked, looking between us three.
“Yes, Liam is my best friend and Jenna is his fiancé,” Grayson said, staring at us. I stood there confused as to why he was here and how he knew Devon.
“Jenna, you are engaged?”
“Grayson, why are you here?” both Devon and Liam asked at the same time.
“I’m here with um my, uh, boyfriend,” Grayson answered, a slight blush covering his cheeks as he brought a hand up to rub the back of his neck.
“Boyfriend?” both Liam and I said in unison. Grayson was gay?
“I should have told you, Liam, but I didn’t know how. I thought I’d tell you about Devon after I got back, before the wedding,” Grayson said, staring only at Liam. I looked over at Liam, shocked that he wasn’t upset or more surprised.
Devon and I stood there confused, staring at Liam and Grayson.
“Grayson, it’s fine you didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend. I was actually wondering if you would ever get one,” Liam joked, going to pat him on the shoulder.
“Wait. Hold up. Liam, you knew Grayson was gay?” I asked, putting a hand up.
“Of course, he’s one of my best friends. I just didn’t know he was dating someone,” Liam answered as he looked over at Devon.
“So you’re the rich engaged friend,” Devon said, nodding at Liam. I stood there, trying to take all of this in.
“You’re the boyfriend,” Liam replied. He relaxed his stance and his face. Now he had no problem with Devon, knowing that he was gay instead of straight.
“This is the guy you were talking about, huh?” I said to Devon once Liam was done staring at him.
“He is.” Devon grinned over at Grayson and wrapped his arm around his. I had no problem that Grayson was gay. It was just a big surprise. I never would have thought he was. He didn’t act gay, but then again, not all gays acted that way. Devon sure didn’t. Looking at them, I noticed they looked good together. They were both very handsome and around the same height.
“Good choice,” I leaned in to whisper to Devon, who, in turn, laughed. Suddenly, a thought appeared in my head.
“Grayson, you’re gay!”
“I thought that was clear a minute ago?” he asked, staring at me as if I were crazy. Liam and Devon both looked at me with raised eyebrows, almost asking if I was okay.
“No, I mean, you are gay. What about Julie?” I thought about Liam’s sister and how she liked Grayson.
“What about Julie?” Grayson and Liam asked.
“She has a crush on you.”
