“Nuh-uh, I wouldn’t do that.” I wagged a finger at him. “I still have eggs to use.” I showed them to him, but made sure to keep them close. Who knew if he would try to swipe them from my grasp? We both stood there, staring each other down. I watched as if a light bulb had gone off in Liam’s head. I so wanted to know what he was thinking at the moment. Involuntarily I took a step back, knowing he probably was going to come after me. I knew I wouldn’t get far if I ran, but I could at least try.

So caught up in my thought, I missed the small motion of him taking a step toward me. I gasped, feeling his chest pressed against mine. He stood still in front of me, looking down at me. I felt the heat coming off of him, and for a stupid moment, I thought he was part werewolf because he was producing so much heat. I almost laughed out loud at my thought, but stopped when I heard Liam’s deep voice.

“I dare you to throw those at me right now,” he whispered down at me. I glanced at the eggs in my hand, then back at him. Liam was watching me closely, his eyes daring me to do what he said. When I didn’t do anything, he moved his arm down and grabbed my wrist. Bringing my hand up to my chest, he continued to stare at me.

“Smash them in my face, Jenna.” The way he said it made my body shiver. I didn’t know how he made his voice that low and husky, but it was a real turn on. It was almost a demand as he kept staring at me. I felt like I was under his spell as he moved my arm up a little higher. With his grip on my wrist, I felt like he was going to force my hand to smash the eggs on his face. A small part of me really wanted to do it, but another part of me was frozen. Liam had a way of making my body bend to his will.

“Jenna,” he said again. I went to go nod, feeling his arm moving mine once more. But just as I thought he was going to make me smash them in his face, he turned my hand and slammed my hand against my own face. All four eggs cracked and broke. Thankfully I had closed my eyes and my mouth before any of the slim or yolk got in them. I stood there completely still as the eggs ran down my face, dripping off my chin onto my shirt and the floor. I couldn’t see, but I heard Liam laughing so hard. For a moment I wanted to smile hearing that laugh because I had never heard him laugh so hard since I’d gotten to know him, but feeling more of the eggs sliding off my face, I stopped.

How dare he trick me like that? I yelled in my head. And I totally fell for it too. With the tips of my fingers I wiped my eyelids, trying to get all the goo off. When I finally did and was able to see, I put my lips in a thin line and stared at Liam. He was leaning against the counter laughing so hard his face was red. His eyes were squeezed shut. I wanted him to pee his pants from laughing so hard at me. Wiping my lips with the back of my hand, I stalked toward him.

“Liam Stanford,” I said in a deadly voice. Hearing my tone, he instantly sobered up and stood straight. I stalked toward him like he was my prey. Beyond caring anymore, Liam turned and took off. Not even a second later, I was chasing after him. I shouted his name and a few curse words along the way to which he just laughed. Because of his stupid long legs he was ahead of me, and he didn’t even seem out of breath.

We ran up the stairs, around the library, through the gym upstairs, then all the way back downstairs to the living room. The entire time, I was yelling and he was laughing. We were probably leaving a trail, but we didn’t care. Finally we came back to the kitchen with me on one side of the island, and him on the other. I was out of breath, clutching onto the granite countertop while Liam grinned at me. I couldn’t take anymore running. I better start exercising, I told myself. Starting tomorrow I will. I held my sides, panting.

“Fine, I give up.” I grunted.

“I thought so,” Liam said smugly.

“But you are so done,” I said, glaring up at him. “You really had to do that on my face!”

“I’m sorry, but your expression was priceless. I really wish I had recorded it.” He chuckled again.

“Haha, so fucking hilarious,” I muttered. My breathing returned to normal. As we stood there, I noticed I had left on the mixer. I quickly went over to it and found it completely ruined.

“There went our cookies,” I said, turning the machine off and looking back to Liam.

“Eh, that’s okay. That was much funner.” He grinned at me.

“Do you have your phone nearby?” I asked, glancing around as a thought came to mind. I spotted mine over on the kitchen table. How it ended up there I had no idea.

“I think it is in the living room. Why?” Before grabbing my phone, I grabbed a towel and dried my hands the best I could.

“Because we are going to take a picture,” I stated. Coming back to him with phone in hand, I clicked the camera.

“Why?”

“Because you look pretty,” I replied sarcastically.

“I know. White is really my color.”

Rolling my eyes, I stood in front of him holding my phone out. Because he was so much taller than me, I had to lift it high to make sure he fit in the shot. Seeing our reflection, I laughed. We looked terrible. My hair was completely white and had yellow yolk mixed in. You couldn’t even tell Liam had brown hair, or that his shirt was blue. My face looked sticky and I had a blob of yolk on my chin. Because I knew no one would see this, I wanted to take the picture.

“Say cheese!” I said. Liam ducked his head, putting it down to the side of my head and smiled. I pressed the button a few times.

“I’ll take it,” Liam said, grabbing the phone. He held it now, getting ready to take a picture. Grinning at the camera, Liam laid his chin on top of my head and snapped the picture. We took a few more before we put the phone away.

“We have to shower,” I commented.

“I actually have a better idea. Come on.” He grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the kitchen. When he opened the door leading outside, I immediately knew what he meant. He wanted to jump in the pool.

“Liam, it is too cold and the pool will get dirty,” I said as we drew near the water.

“No, it’s not. It is heated and the pool guy will clean it later.” He shrugged. I hadn’t known it was heated. Nice idea. “Okay, hop in.” He gestured to the pool.

“I am not going in first.” I backed away.

“Why not? It is warm.”
