“Join us,” I whispered, my throat tight with nerves.
Adrian clenched his hands into tight fists again. I really didn’t think he’d come. He was putting me through it, that was for sure. His expression never changed. He never moved.
I had made a mistake.
I had assumed too much.
And now, he was going to sit there and let me drown in the mortification of it all.
My stomach twisted, heat rushing to my cheeks, and I lowered my gaze, about to backtrack and say never mind, when I heard the sound of his seat squeaking.
Finally, Adrian moved.
He stood slowly, his movements calculated and controlled like he was forcing himself to focus despite whatever storm was forming rapidly deep inside him.
He didn’t take his eyes off me as he crossed the small space.
And then, just like that, he was there, sliding into the space beside me, his presence warm and solid and so overwhelming I nearly shrank away from him.
Troy smirked beside me, his green eyes filled with satisfaction.
“Welcome, brother,” he murmured, greeting Adrian as he settled in.
Adrian cleared his throat, his jaw clenching as he finally dragged his gaze away from me to glare at Troy.
But his expression softened the second he turned back to me.
His green eyes were heated, filled with something I’d never seen on him before. There was so much raw emotion he didn’t bother to fix behind the carefully crafted mask he often wore.
His voice came out hoarse, almost like he had been holding these words back for a long time.
“I don’t know how to do this with you,” he admitted, his gaze darkening. “But fuck, do I want to, butterfly.”
A wave of warmth rushed through me at his words, excitement sparking through every fiber of my being, mixing with nerves, fear, and need.
I swallowed, heart racing.
“I don’t know what to do either.”
Adrian’s lips tilted slightly, the slightest hint of a smile breakingthrough. It looked misplaced on him, especially since it was directed at me. All I ever saw on his face regarding me was a scowl.
“Then we’ll find out,” he murmured.
Slowly, so damn slowly, he leaned in, his lips hovering just above mine, his breath warm against my mouth.
I barely had time to brace myself before he closed the space between us and kissed me.
God help me; I melted into him instantly.
When his warm, soft lips met mine, I felt the spark ignite inside me, something deep, powerful, and all-consuming. Something that could take over everything if I let it. It could swallow me whole, and I’d probably beg for more.
Adrian didn’t kiss me like Troy had.
Troy had been sweet. Teasing, testing, coaxing me into this new forbidden world we had entered.
But Adrian?
Adrian kissed me like he had been starving for me, like I was the only thing that mattered. Like I was a feast he’d been craving since becoming lost.
