“I’m lucky you’re doing grunt work today,” she reflected as Janet shifted to her other hand.
Turns out she’d hit Gonzales with both fists, even though she could not remember using her injured limb during the fight. For sure, she’d lost it out there. Big time. And now Quinn would never settle for less than the full truth. Ellie did not think she’d lose her badge over the incident… Hopefully not. But she would have to explain herself, for sure. Quinn might knock her back to uniform. Throw her off her team which Ellie had worked so hard to become a part of...Goddammit!Tears burned the back of hereyes, nerves in her forearm sizzled, and she shuddered under a fresh wave of pain.
“Breathe,” Janet murmured.
“Yeah. I am.”
“Are you going to be sick?”
“No,” Ellie said fiercely, knowing the last thing she would do was embarrass herself in front of this woman. And yet, she had to lean forward, sweat dripping off of her forehead.Oh, shit!“Yes…”
chapter 5
“Oh, Quinn… You cooked?”
Lia sniffed the air with a delighted, if slightly puzzled, grin. The table was neatly set for two in the corner of the lounge, with candles and a bottle of her favorite New Zealand red waiting to be enjoyed. Friday night, at last… When Quinn had told her that she would pick her up from the airport, Lia had imagined she’d just wait outside in the car... She’d been wrong. She found her wife in the middle of the Arrivals Hall, dressed in tight blue jeans and a simple Lewiston P.D. hoody despite the cold, armed with a gorgeous smile and a beautiful red rose. Now her face flushed the same color at the question, prompting Lia to laugh happily and throw both arms around her neck.
“Or did you re-heat one of my lasagna from the freezer?”
“Guilty as charged,” Quinn admitted, blushing harder.
Lia kissed her deeply, fiercely, with a possessive hand fisted tightly in her hair.
“You are the best.”
Quinn eyed her with a lingering smile and eyes gone a little hazy from the kiss.
“I don’t know about that… I try. I missed you, Lia.”
“Good. Want to share a shower before dinner?”
“I guess I could be tempted.”
Once upon a time, sex mattered incredibly little to Lia. She satisfied basic biological urges whenever they arose, which was not very often. She got it done quickly and on her own. Never wanted or needed more. Then, a woman with the power to make her hot and needy with a single glance walked into her life. Quinn made Lia crave sexual connection like the very air she breathed. It was always a special pleasure with her, an exquisite treat. And she tended to want it every day.
“Did you have fun without me?”
Quinn joined her under the hot stream of water, in a cloud of steam. Her eyes were dark and hungry, her lips curved into a mischievous smile.
“What kind of fun are you talking about?”
“You know…” Lia trailed a lazy finger between her breasts and over her tight stomach. She watched the muscles contract, Quinn’s skin prickle and her nipples harden, and marveled at the fact that she had the power to make this happen. “Did you take care of business?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Mmm.” Lia tried and failed to hide her disappointment. She’d held back from doing that, wanting to keep herself for her wife. It had been their first time apart since getting married and she had kind of imagined that Quinn would do the same. Maybe it was silly and overly sentimental, but... “Did you really?”
“Sure.” Quinn nibbled at her bottom lip and backed her up softly against the tiled wall. “The instant you flew off, I called all my lovers and we had a massive orgy.”
“Smartass.”
Lia laughed and pulled her a bit more roughly against her. Quinn slid a muscled thigh in between her legs, just short of crucial contact. She laced their fingers and raised Lia’s arms up over her head.
“What about you, Mrs.?”
“No,” Lia pouted. “I just suffered.”
“Tell you a secret?”
