“I wanted to surprise you with your family. I should’ve just told you up front, and none of this would have happened. I’m sorry, Emma.”

“I’m sorry, too, Anthony. I’ve done a lot of growing in the last few weeks. I love you, and I never want to live without you. I’m glad you came to my prom. You’re the best date ever.”

We say goodbye to everyone. I give my dad, his wife, and my sister a hug and promise to visit Phoenix next week when we return from our trip. Kat hugs me hard and releases me. She informs me my bag is packed and ready to go. Of course, she knew. I look at Chris and Trevor, only to find them both in tears. They are hand-to-hand and hip-to-hip. I can’t find Roxy; she’s disappeared. Someone else is going to have to notify her I won’t be home for a while.

“Let’s go, baby. I can’t wait any longer.” He pulls me from the group and throws me over his shoulder. It’s quite a turn-on. This whole caveman routine becomes him. I smile at everyone I pass, knowing this is the beginning of the rest of my life.

I wakeup in Anthony’s arms. My body is sated, and my heart is full. I lift my hand and look at the ring on my finger. It’s perfect. He’s perfect. I shift my body, so I am looking at him. He pulls me tight against his chest, the smell of him softly wafting through my nose. I am home in his embrace.

He rolls back, pulling me on top of him. I lay my head on his chest. I look at the nightstand by the bed. Our picture from the evening before sits proudly. We are dressed in our prom clothes, with Elvis standing directly behind us. The banner above our heads reads “Just Married.”

Nothing Anthony and I do is traditional; from the way we met to the way we married is simply who we are.

He told me we had some papers to sign before we married. I can’t blame him for wanting to protect his assets. I’d expected to sign a prenup before we said I do. What surprised me was that when the lawyer met us at the house, it was to sign half of everything he owned over to me. He only smiled and said he was jumping in with both feet. He earned a lifetime of brownie points with that action.

He informed me there was no risk in giving me everything. I’dnever have time to leave him because he planned to keep me barefoot, pregnant, and in bed. The kitchen was his and was off-limits to me. How can you say no to that?

Many people would wonder why I rushed to the altar with Anthony. My only answer would be thathe’s the one. My mom didn’t get to be with her true love, and I wasn’t missing out on the chance to be with mine.

So, we locked ourselves in our room in Las Vegas for an entire week. Although I couldn’t get pregnant for several months because of my recent birth control shot, I was willing to practice. They say practice makes perfect. I say perfect practice makes perfect and practice we did.
