Fuck, this is wrong. I shouldn’t be doing this, but hell, finally admitting that she’s mine feels so fucking good.

CHAPTER 18

PROVE IT, LEO

Nisa

Talk about being locked up without actually being in jail.

I’ve been in this clubhouse since they brought me here from the motel. I can’t even go to the bathroom without someone coming in here to check on me. Everyone except Leo.

He’s come to look in on me once or twice since we had that conversation about Marc and what I was doing, but besides that, nothing really has changed. I should have known that everything that he was talking about was all talk. Now it seems like he’s gone back to his old ways.

I’m never going to be nothing more than my brother’s little sister to him.

It’s been so long I’ve been in this role that I can’t even get upset about it anymore.

At least I got to tell them what was really going down with Marc and his people. I don’t know whether they found him or not, but I know they moved my mother to a more secure location, which I’m grateful for.

I don’t have my phone, so I can't tell if Marc has been trying to reach out to me or not, but I’m not worried about it. I know what he’s capable of, but now that I have all the Chrome Creedbacking me up, I know that I don’t have anything to worry about, at least not while I’m stuck here in the clubhouse.

My body is still recovering, but I’m on the mend and feeling stir crazy.

I push myself out of the bed and slide on a pair of sweats that one of the guys must have left for me.

The door creaks when I push it open, and Tella is the first one I see standing at my door like a damn sentry.

“Am I allowed to move from the room?” I ask rolling my eyes when he stands up straight to attention.

“Girl, stop playing. You know it’s not like that. We're just trying to make sure you're good. A little appreciation would go a long way.” Tella snaps at me before he stalks off.

The hostility drains from my body and I reach up to grab hold of him.

He turns in my direction, that same aggravated look on his face. I pout a little and wrap my arms around him.

I've hugged Tella a million times, except this time he doesn’t hug me back. In fact, I can feel the tension rolling off him. That’s weird. I’ve always been able to hug and play around with them. But now it feels like they don’t even want me to touch them.

Did I cause all this damage because of Marc?

The thought weighs heavy on my mind and I let Tella go. He doesn’t say another word to me, just walks off, like he was trying to do before I pulled him into an unwanted hug.

My eyes drift to the bar area, it’s still pretty rough, but I can tell that they’ve been working hard to get everything back the way it was. Back to how it looked before I helped set off a bomb in the clubhouse that could have killed people. A bomb that could have killed my family.

“Nisa, you good?” Virus calls out to me from where he’s sitting in one of the lounge areas on the other side of the room.

My eyes jump over to his, and I give him a small smile. He’s one of the newer patched members of Chrome Creed, and only about three years older than me. He’s a good kid, but he’s a lot softer than he likes people to think.

“Yeah. I’m okay." I shove my hand into the pockets of the sweatpants, making sure not to pull down too much.

“What you over there working on?” I crane my neck slightly to see his laptop. I’m not trying to walk over there if he’s watching porn or something like that.

“I’m just going over these fucking tapes...” He stops talking mid-sentence like he wasn't supposed to say anything.

He’s trying to find Marc.

I did this shit. I might as well do what I can to help them now.

“Let me see what you got. I can tell you if I see something you might have missed.” I walk over and sit down on the couch.
