Her eyes seemed to turn a blue shade that practically hypnotized me. "I told you. Nothing's going to keep me from being with you."
I swallowed as her chest rose and fell again with a deep breath. "I was expecting flowers or chocolate or the thing I really—"
Jayda's cheeks flushed as she glanced away quickly, making me wonder what she was going to say.
"What? The thing you really what?" I asked, bouncing her with my hips to make her look at me again.
With that flirty little smile and a light in her eyes, she said, "The thing I was really hoping for was someone to clean."
Now that surprised me.
"I mean," she continued, "the thing I wanted most wasyou, of course, but that never even entered my mind as a possibility."
An idea popped into my head right then. "Baby, I can make all your dreams come true."
Chapter Twenty-Nine
Jayda
I had no clue what he had in mind. But he had that teasing look in his eyes that I'd loved since high school. He kissed me then, a sweet, tender kiss that made me melt.
Pulling back, he whispered against my lips, "You ready, hot Mama?"
"Ready for what?" I asked, wondering what he could possibly have in store for me.
I tore my body away from his, finally standing up as he pinched my ass.
"Hey!" Both of us laughing, I swatted his hand away. I guarded my rear while I picked up my underwear. "So where's Gabby this time?"
Alex walked over and helped me sort through the pile of clothes on the floor. "She's with my parents. My brother's in town with his kids."
I paused to glance at him. "And you came here instead of hanging out with your family?"
He didn't even look up as he handed me my shirt. "Hell, yeah. I've had a lifetime with my brother. I'm good."
Stifling a laugh, I asked, "So how long are you here for?"
"Till Sunday afternoon. I need to be back to work Monday morning."
Both of us standing up, clothes in our hands, I gulped at the hot specimen of all man in front of me. Something about the sunlight pouring in from the windows highlighted his muscles, making my mouth water. I just wanted to jump on him again.
Whoa, what was wrong with me? Was it too soon to blame pregnancy hormones? Or was it all because of this beautiful man?
Gulping, I tried to swallow down my lust. "So, um, what was that? Sunday afternoon?"
He nodded, grinning at me as he handed me my bra. "Mm-hmm. Sunday afternoon."
I mentally did the math. So two whole nights together. And this time, a yes from the doctor. I didn't think there'd be much sleeping. It occurred to me maybe that was the reason Alex was here so soon.
"So tell me this, Alex Hernandez. Did you just come back because of what my doctor said?"
That grin on his face grew even wider. "No, of course not. I've been working on this since the minute I got back to Miami." Those sexy eyes narrowed. "Jayda Jenkins, I'm surprised at you. Your mind sure is in the gutter. Not even saying hello to me, just attacking me right on the doorstep for all your neighbors to see."
Giggling, I tried to hit him with my bra. But he grabbed the other end of it and pulled me closer to him.
"And I loved every single second of it," he said, his face close to mine.
My heart stuttered, and I closed my eyes for a second because there was something I meant to say, but just his nearness made me forget everything. Oh, yes, right. "If I recall, I started to say hello, but you were the one who stopped me with that kiss."
