I didn’t care either way, but Pepper insisted on us wearing our Outlawz vests with our names on the back.

Axe patted me on the back. “Love looks good on you. I’m happy that you are happy, and you learned to love someone other than me and Mom.”

“That shit I carried around wasn’t healthy. It wouldn’t have brought Darren back.”

“You’re right. I’m proud of you, Blade.”

My chest swelled as I looked at my brother. He was the closest thing I had to a father, even though we were close in age. It felt good hearing him say that he was proud of me.

“Thanks, brother.” I pulled him into me. “I love you, and one day, this will be you.”

He let me go and rubbed his hand over his head. “Maybe one day. Today is about you. Let’s get you married.”

Today was my wedding day, and even though I was excited about it, I was a little sad that my father wouldn’t be here to walkme down the aisle. I hadn’t talked to him in over a year, and it seemed as though he didn’t care. I stopped feeling sad about it and focused on the love from the people around me. I still had my uncle Evan and Cayenne, but I also had Dion and the Outlawz. His mother had even become like a mother to me, and I loved her.

I would have never imagined that my life would turn out the way it had, but I had no complaints.

Dion surprised me with the way he treated me. I never would have expected him to be so sweet and caring to me. He loved me in a way that I didn’t think I would ever be able to receive.

I knew he watched me on the camera earlier, so I decided to give him a little show. It didn’t bother me when he first told me about the cameras because I was already in too deep to be weirded out by it. I was flattered by it. I loved that he was obsessed with me because that meant he wouldn’t hurt me. I didn’t want to think about how it would hurt me if he wasn’t around. I needed him just as much as he needed me. He gave me a family, and by the end of the night, he would know that we were about to start a family of our own. I had been experiencing pregnancy symptoms, so I took multiple pregnancy tests. All three of them were positive. I was surprised it had taken this long since we never used protection. I hadn’t made it to the doctor yet, but I would after our honeymoon.

“Can I come in?” Uncle Evan stood at the entrance of the room.

I kept all the coloring books Dion brought me in the room, and I would come in here sometimes to color. Every week, he got me new books because he knew I loved them so much.

“Yes.” I put my earrings on and looked at myself in the mirror.

“You look beautiful.” Uncle Evan stepped into the room. His eyes twinkled when he looked at me.

My father wouldn’t be here, but Uncle Evan was the best father/uncle I could ask for.

“Thank you.”

“I’m so happy for you, and your mother would be proud.”

My nose tingled, but I wouldn’t let myself cry. I didn’t want to ruin my makeup.

“I think so too.”

“Are you ready?”

I nodded because I was choked up with emotion.

Uncle Evan grabbed my hand and led me out of the room.

We walked down the steps to the back door. When we stood on the patio, I looked around at everyone who showed up for us. Cayenne and Mouse did such a wonderful job on the decorations. Everything was pink and blue, just like I wanted them.

Dion’s eyes were trained on me as we walked down the aisle. My heart thumped in my chest with every step.

Once we made it to the front, Dion reached for my hand. Uncle Evan whispered something to him, then went to take his seat.

Cayenne served as my maid of honor, while Axe was the best man. I wasn’t sure what was going on with them, but it was something.

“We are gathered here today to witness these two in holy matrimony. The couple wants to recite their own vows, so Pepper, you go first.”

“Dion, you came into my life and literally kidnapped me and my heart.” Dion smirked. “I wouldn’t have wanted things to go any other way. I love you, and I will forever be your first lady.”

Dion rubbed his thumb over the back of my hand.
