“Why the fuck did you move everything around?”
I wasn’t sure why I felt so angry about it, but I did.
Her eyes widened. “Because I was bored. You try sitting in a room all day doing nothing but watching TV and fucking coloring!”
My dick twitched when her voice elevated. I needed to get away from her before I did some shit.
“You know what?” I tapped a finger on my chin. “Since you want to keep being a smart ass, I got something for you.” I snatched the plug from the wall and picked up the television.
“Wait! No, don’t take it.” She got up and attempted to walk toward me, but the look I gave her made her stop in her tracks.
“Maybe you’ll think twice about trying to leave and that smart-ass mouth.”
I closed the door and walked down the hall to my room. I needed to do something about that lock in case she tried to leave again.
After putting the television in the first room I held her in, I grabbed a screwdriver and an extra lock I had.
I changed the doorknob so she couldn’t try to pick it again and added an extra lock. When I was done with that, I went into my room to watch her.
She pouted as she moved around the room. I didn’t know what she said, but I could see her mouth moving. She was pissed, and a part of me felt bad, but on the other end, I found a little joy in it. Sooner or later, I would have my way with her and tame that mouth of hers.
Eventually, she sat on the floor and started coloring. While she did that, I sent a message to the club members about a meeting I wanted to have. I knew Harold wouldn’t sit by for too much longer, so I needed to alert my team.
“If you aren’t a member of the Outlawz, then you have five seconds to get out of here.” I stood at the table in the middle of our clubhouse.
I renovated an old car garage into the Outlawz clubhouse. I could have had something built on my property, but I liked to keep my everyday life private from everything else. Plus, too many people would hang around, and I didn’t want all that attention and someone finding out about Pepper.
I had a U-shaped bar specially built with plenty of liquor. We kept top-shelf and cheap liquor, as well as an assortment of beer and a few wines. The wine was mainly for the women who came through here. We also had a pool table, dart boards, and a small basketball court. We usually ate together after our meetings, but since this was last minute, I hadn’t had a chance to get anything prepared.
On any given day, people were coming in and out at all hours of the day. I wanted to get the meeting started on time.
It had been a few days since I took Pepper’s television, and except for bringing her meals, we hadn’t said anything to each other. She was still mad, and I was… I wasn’t sure what I was. I was confused about what I was doing with her. I didn’t even know why I had her still locked in the room. Was I afraid she would try and leave again?
Once the stragglers left, the main members came over to the table and sat down. I looked around at my crew and prepared myself for what I had to say.
“I’m sure some of you may have heard by now that the Crusaders are gearing up for a war.” I let my eyes travel around the table and to the few guys that stood near the bar.
All eyes were on me, questioning what was next.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but we have to be prepared.”
Bear stood. “Can I ask a question?”
“Of course.”
I didn’t run the club like a tyrant. I allowed and wanted any of them to ask questions whenever they needed to and to bring me any concerns they had. I may have been in charge, but we were a family.
“What is all this about?”
I paused because, how could I tell them the reason behind it? Before I could think of a good enough response, Cole, our newest prospect, stumbled through the front door.
“What the fuck happened to you?” I asked when Cole got closer. He had a black eye and a busted lip.
“One of them Crusaders niggas.” He wiped his mouth. “Shit wasn’t about nothing. He looks worse than me. But I was told to deliver you a message. If you don’t return that girl, it will be some casualties.”
All eyes were on me.
“So it’s true you have the Wilson girl,” Ryder mentioned.
