Bending down, I capture Leslie around the waist and lift her over my shoulder. She lets out a loud shriek that has Snow on her feet and bounding towards me. She dances in a circle around us, trying to decide if Leslie’s ok.

“She’s ok, Snow. Babe, talk to her in a calm voice. She thinks you’re hurt.” I bend down to scratch behind her ear as Leslie says soothing things.

As soon as Snow curls back up on her dog bed, I take off at a sprint towards our room. Leslie giggles uncontrollably as she bounces on my shoulder. When I’m standing at thefoot of our bed, I gently lower her onto the mattress and crawl up the bed until I’m hovering over her.

“I can’t believe you’re all mine,” I whisper as I reach behind my neck and drag my shirt over my head.

“You? I can’t believe you’remine.” She smirks.

“Why?” I trail kisses down her neck before sucking gently on her skin.

“Because you didn’t notice me for so long. I swear I’ve had the biggest crush on you since I moved to Maple Springs.”

“I’m an idiot. I have no other argument. But I’m more than willing to make up for my errors.” I slowly unzip her dress, giving her more than enough time to stop me.

When she doesn’t, I slowly drag the material down her arms and toss them on the ground. I start working my own jeans, letting them meet her clothing on the floor.

“If you don’t want this, you need to tell me to stop. I won’t be mad. I’m happy to wait as long as you need me to.”

“I don’t want you to stop,” she whispers.

“Are you sure? I want you to be comfortable. You’re in control.”

“I don’t want to be in control. I trust you, Colt.”

Her words wash over me, turning me on more than anything else could. I want to take this next step in our relationship. I want her to realize how much she means to me. She isn’t a quick lay to me. She’s starting to feel like forever.

Chapter 26

Leslie

“Look at this big boy!” I gush as I lift Duke into my arms. He coos up at me, smiling like that’s what he was born to do.

“Thanks again for watching them. I have an appointment and then I think Tucker needs a night out without kids.” Skylar drops the diaper bag on the couch and watches Riley run over to Snow.

Snow rolls onto her back so Riley can pet her belly. Her tail is moving a mile a minute. She’s so excited to have a kid in the house. I can only imagine how excited she’d be if we had a baby. I grin at the thought of having a family with Colt. It’s so easy to envision.

“What are you smiling about?” Skylar eyes me.

“Colt told me he loved me last night,” I whisper. I don’t want Colt and Tucker to hear me and they’re standing only a few feet away.

“That’s adorable. I'm so glad the two of you are dating.” She squeezes my hand and smiles. “From the second I met you, I thought you would be perfect for him. Now, we just need to get you married and popping out babies.”

“Hold up. Leslie’s not marrying anyone except me.” Colt stops talking to Tucker and closes the distance between us. He loops his arm around my waist and tugs me against him. “This beautiful woman is mine.”

“Do I need to know anything special about Duke?” I ignore Colt’s comment and turn back to Skylar. I know he isn't serious about us getting married. We’ve only been dating for a few days.

“Ouch,” Tucker hisses.

“I know. I thought I’d at least get a response,” Colt grumbles under his breath.

“Oh my gosh, stop.” I chuckle and shake my head. “I'm not being mean, but there’s nothing to say in response to that. We just started dating.”

“Could’ve at least agreed you aren’t marrying anyone else.” He sticks out his bottom lip in a pout.

“Fine. Colton, I promise I won't marry anyone else while we’re dating. Happy?”

“I’d rather you stopped after ‘I promise I won't marry anyone else’, but I guess thatwill do.”
