"Why am I making her upset?" he asks.
Felix you're behaving like you don't understand what's going on. How is it possible for you to forget that you kissed her? I press him.
"I didn't forget," he answers.
Why does your behavior suggest that nothing happens? I genuinely question him.
He pauses to think before I lift an eyebrow to encourage him to continue talking.
I want to avoid pretending everything is normal but I'm unsure about how to proceed. he shrugs.
My heart dropped. "Do you...regret it?" I managed to say my bitter words and his surprised reaction showed he didn't expect such a thing to come from me.
"No. I don't regret it at all. I think I'm nervous." His laugh while speaking affirmed how he felt.
He was nervous.
"Why are you nervous?"
Before Kylie and your brother everyone in this group remained single. Doing that with someone else feels risky. He states that kissing someone within this group means you cannot reverse the situation.
My heart lifted from its lowest point before falling back down.
There's no going back. The same words kept replaying in my thoughts. Shit.
I cleared my throat and continued. "So, do you like her...like that?"
He moved his lips repeatedly while searching for the right answer. I feel attracted to her, yet I fear that pursuing it could ruin our current relationship.
I sighed. Staying inactive means you'll ruin things. I give it to him straight.
He lets out a groan before wiping his face with his hand. "So, then what, just go for it?"
"Yes. She loves you more than she should, which makes me feel awkward. I laugh. His face lights up with a smile when he sits back in satisfaction.
I rotate my body and move my hand to the doorknob. If you ever break Kylie's heart, then you will never hear from me again. I point at him.
"Thanks for the warning." He throws his hands up in defence
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Watching the sunset from the porch revealed how the day gradually transformed into night. Sunsets had always enchanted me because it was that rare moment when the sun and the moon met.
Just once.
The horizon removed one of their images before Earth completed its rotation. They spent their time patiently awaiting their next meeting the following day.
Thinking about it brought me joy because it felt like a melancholy love story written by nature.
The moon fully illuminated the sky above me as I strolled down the street with my worn-out Converse shoes while I walked onto the beach.
I heard distant voices growing faint as I ascended the hill. Ahead of me were other people while the only illumination came from the flames of a large wood stack burning brightly.
This party followed the same pattern I was familiar with but stood out because we found ourselves in another state surrounded by strangers.
A person brought a cooler to this location which allowed everyone to get drinks before splitting up. Camden and JAMIE went looking for girls while Kylie and Elijah slipped away, and Felix and Jaxon found themselves surrounded by girls.
Hazel and I spent our time walking aimlessly. We engaged in conversations with multiple people simultaneously, buteveryone remained anonymous with each other. I hope to make some new friends while we are here.
