“Don’t worry about The Wall. I got him.”

“Are you sure? He looks like he could eat you and still be hungry for seconds.”

God, I hope so. “Yeah, don’t worry about the big guy.”

“Alright, everyone is going to be looking at the podium soon so I suggest we get into position.”

I give her a nod and we split up once again. I make my way into the hall and down a long corridor before finally coming to the kitchen. Once I find that I go back to the party and wait. Once everyone starts to leave and the party is winding down, I make sure to make eye contact with the big guy and keep an eye on where he is at all times. I hang back until the house grows quiet and dark before I move from my hiding spot.

I wait but not for long. The big guy comes into the kitchen and starts locking everything down. And I sneak up behind him and jab the stun gun into his ribs. He falls perfectly where I want him, back in the wheely chair that I have waiting for him. It’s the only way I could think of moving him around where I need him. I also handcuff him so he won’t be able to move his arms when he finally comes to.

I wheel him into the pantry after a time. Even though there are wheels it’s still hard for me to move him. Damn, everyone is right - Evander Stone is a big man!

Chapter Two

Vander

I slowly crack my eyes open just enough to see the tiny little fairy fluttering near me. Did I let myself get tased on purpose? Yeah, I did. Did I let this little thing think I was more out of it than I really was? Yeah, I did that too. Did I let her put the cuffs on me and maybe even help her wheel me into the pantry? You bet your sweet ass I did.

It's the only way I figure I can get close to this sweet little pixie and find out what she and her friend are up to. So yeah, I let her think that her tiny taser was enough to knock me out and that she got the upper hand on me. I let her think that these silly handcuffs are going to be enough to hold me if I wanted out of them.

Slowly, I pretend to ‘wake up’ so I can find out what this woman is going to do next. She pulls a chair up and sits on it so she can stare at me finally. “Who are you? What do you want?”

I try to say it like I would to anyone I found in the house but it still comes out softer than I would say to just anyone.

“I’m Tempi. Temperance. I’m helping my best friend.” She says it so matter-of-factly while waving a gun around. Thankfully I can see that the safety is on so I worry less that it will go off and hurt her accidentally.

“Helping your best friend do what?” Normally this would make the hair on the back of my neck stand up but this littlething couldn’t be bad. She’s too…innocent, too sweet. The smell of it practically smacks me in the balls. No way is she just your average political slut-bunny. I can spot those women a mile away. Like the two women talking about last year’s debacle. Don’t think I didn’t notice my little fairy banging into the two women who called me names - still pissed about me stopping them from making it into Cyrus’s bed.

It's one of the reasons I decided to allow this to happen. What was this little thing doing here? Was she after my friend or am I the only one those hot glances are for?

“Well, um, I’m not really supposed to tell you.” Refreshing. She didn’t even think about coming up with a lie when I asked. “But…I think you’re trustworthy. You look trustworthy.”

Trustworthy. Now, that is something only Cyrus would ever say about me.

“My friend is Lyric Brown, her father is Dana Brown. And…well, he’s in trouble.”

“Trouble how?”

“He…he was charged with something he didn’t do but we can’t prove he didn’t do it and the Sheriff wants Lyric to sleep with him or they're going to kill her father while he’s locked up.”

That explains what her friend wants with Cyrus.

“But you? Did they say you had to sleep with them? Has anyone been asking for you?” I grow larger at the thought of anyone trying to coerce this tiny thing into their bed. I have to take deep breaths so I can focus on not breaking these handcuffs and finding out who I have to kill if they have.

“Me? No. Why would anyone ask me to sleep with them? It’s not my father in trouble. My dad’s dead.”

I struggle not to laugh. She won’t find it as cute as I do, I’m sure.

“So you’re just here to help a friend?”

“Well, she is my very best friend. She’s more like a sister and it hurts me when she is hurt. I don’t think the Sheriff would be very nice to her if she let him take her cherry. And that is kind of an introduction to the whole sex thing so it should be good…right?”

“You don’t know?” I hold my breath for what she says next.

“Well, duh. Of course I don’t know. I’m a virgin too.”
