He grins at me. “Every day. But I never tire of hearing you say it.”
“Good. Because I’m not going to stop.”
I feel accomplishedafter writing an outline and beginning the first of two large papers for the Composition and Writing class I’m taking. Standing, I stretch before gathering my materials and hitching my backpack over my shoulder.
Pushing through the library doors, the sky opens, rain soaking the campus.Great.
Pulling my phone from my pocket, I’m about to order an Uber when a horn blows. I look up, a smile stretching across my face as a familiar SUV pulls up in front of the library. I wave, racing around to the passenger seat of Tristan’s vehicle, and climb inside.
“How are you here?” I launch myself at him before he can answer, grabbing his face and kissing him.
He chuckles when he pulls away. “Wow. That’s a helluva greeting, kitten.” Winking, he pushes my wet hair away from my face. “Coach let us out of practice early. I read your text and immediately rushed over, knowing you’d get soaked walking home.”
“You are the sweetest boyfriend ever.”
A slight growl leaves his lips. “Damn. Keep it up, and I’ll fuck you right here.” His expression softens, a smile on his lips. “You’re the best girlfriend ever. And the love of my life.”
I smile. “I love you.”
“I love you with all my heart, kitten.” His kiss is sweet and full of promises of forever.
As I settle into the passenger seat, he turns the heat up before reaching into the back of his vehicle and grabbing his sweatshirt. He puts it over my head before fastening the seat belt. His eyes meet mine. “What?”
I know I have the silliest smile on my face, but I can’t help it. “I like the way you take care of me.”
“Good. Cause I’m never gonna stop.”
We sitin Tristan’s SUV, the pouring rain pounding against the vehicle, puddles everywhere. “Ready, kitten?”
I nod, determination on my face.
He grins. “On three.”
I have my hand on the handle, ready to open it and sprint through the rain. “One.”
“Two.”
“Three,” I shriek as I slide out the door, slamming it shut. I make it around the front of his vehicle before Tristan scoops me in his arms, twirling me around in the rain. We are laughing, enjoying the feel of it on our skin before our eyes lock and the passion takes over.
Holding me against him, his hands cup my ass as he claims me with the type of kiss that possesses me to my soul. My hands tangle in his hair, pulling him closer, no longer caring about getting soaked. Not caring about anything but losing ourselves in each other.
“What the hell?” Josh’s angry voice breaks through my lustful fog.
We break the kiss, our heads turning to Josh, but Tristan doesn’t put me down.
“You son of a bitch.” Josh’s fist swings and Tristan immediately spins, protecting me. He stumbles from the hit as my feet touch the ground. Before Tristan can block his punches, Josh attacks with a fury. I scream, stepping back as Tristan hits the sidewalk, Josh on top of him.
“Oh my God. Stop it.” I’m soaked, my hands slipping as I unsuccessfully grab Josh’s arm. “Please, just stop.”
Josh whips around, furious eyes burning into mine. I take a step back, and he advances. “You fucking bitch. How long have you been fucking him?” Before I can react, he shoves me,sending me flying against the porch. I slump against the steps, dazed.
“You motherfucker.” Tristan tackles Josh, his fists flying. “You don’t fucking touch her.” The sickening crunch of bone beneath his fist is evident over the rain pounding against the porch roof. “You don’t fucking call her a bitch.” His face is twisted from rage as he pummels Josh.
I rub my aching head. “Tristan, please stop.” Tears course down my cheeks. I don’t want Tristan to end up getting into trouble. I’ve seen this too many times. Josh always wiggles out of whatever trouble he gets in.
Tristan fists Josh’s shirt, lifting his head from the sidewalk. Dropping him, he snaps, “You’re not fucking worth it.” Releasing him, he backs up, his eyes on Josh. He lifts his arm, wiping his nose before he spins, his concerned eyes locking with mine. “Kitten.”
Rushing over to me, he scoops me up. “Let’s get you out of this rain, and I’ll check you over.”
