We don’t touch as we head toward the classroom, but we keep sneaking peeks at one another. He gestures for me toenter the room first, and when I do, my heart pounds as I see someone sitting next to Jessica. The only available seats are beside Alex.

“Don’t worry. We don’t bite,” Tristan whispers, nudging me toward the chair. “But we are fun.”

“You had something to do with this,” I hiss over my shoulder.

“Did I? How, when I was in the closet with you?” He whispers back.

I sigh, my gaze meeting Alex’s. A knowing smile spreads across his lips, and his eyes twinkle.

Fun, huh? More like I’m about to endure fifty minutes of torture.

CHAPTER 12

Jordyn

Tristan holds the door as I step outside, laughing at Alex, who’s in front of me, arguing he’s the better hockey player. “Everyone knows the goalie is the most important person on the team, captain. It’s just a fact.”

Tristan falls in step with me. “Oh, please. I faked you out during practice and kicked your ass.” Tristan launches into the story, finishing with, “Alex is an excellent goalie. But he needs the team to help protect the goal.”

“Whatever, asshole.” Alex’s lips curl into a smile. “I bet voyeur believes me, don’t you?”

“Voyeur?” My hackles raise as I stare him down. He has an “Oh shit” expression on his face, his gaze sliding to Tristan, who glowers at him.

My eyes flash at Tristan. “You told him.”

Alex immediately defends him. “We’re best friends. We tell each other everything.” He levels me with a look. “That was one helluva unforgettable first meeting.”

My face heats, and the sudden urge to flee winds its way through me, cutting off my air.

“Hey.” Tristan’s hand squeezes my arm, his touchmore comforting than it should be. “I’m sorry. I needed to get it off my chest.” The pain in his voice causes me to lift my eyes to his, studying his expression. “I made a terrible first impression, and it bothered the hell outta me.”

Sympathy rolls through me. He looks so hurt that I can’t help but feel bad.He cares about my opinion of him.

“I’m not a puck boy. I cut off women after?—”

Grief and devastation war across his features. He runs a hand through his dark blond hair, bicep rippling as he does. “Anyway, that’s in the past.”

Before I can say a word, Alex jumps in. “He’s not kidding. That was the first time he’d been with a woman in over a year.” A smirk curls his lips as we walk toward the coffee shop. “His palm is probably worn the fuck out. I’m surprised he hasn’t needed wrist surgery.”

Tristan punches Alex’s shoulder, laughing. “Oh, and you’re suddenly Mr. Stud now? Exactly how many people have you been with since you and Natasha broke up? Zero.”

Alex smirks at Tristan, then me. “I haven’t found anyone to drag into a custodial closet yet.”

I gasp, my accusing gaze sliding to Tristan. “You told him?”

The look on Tristan’s face is perplexed. “When did I tell him? You’ve been with me since the closet.”

Alex’s howl of laughter reaches my ears “You two are easy. You can’t keep a secret for shit.”

Oh, God. Is he right? Will Josh take one look at my face and know what Tristan and I did?

Alex laughs harder, patting my left shoulder. “It’s not that obvious, voyeur. Only to me, because I pay attention. That’s why I’m the best goalie the Wolverines have had in two decades.”

“Don’t touch her,” Tristan growls. His green eyes lower to mine. “Alex isn’t exactly known for his modesty.”

Alex shrugs. “Why be modest when it’s the truth?” His twinkling eyes drop to mine. “Don’t worry about Josh. That guy isn’t the brightest star in the sky. More like the dimmest.” He leans closer, his voice a loud, conspiratorial whisper. “Tristan knows I’d never do anything, but he’s afraid you’ll want my dick.”

A low, threatening growl comes from my right side. “I’m not threatened by you or your dick, asshole.”
