“Sit,” he ordered, and I did. But not before rolling my eyes at him.

He pulled the lid off the first dish, revealing a fully loaded omelet with a side serving of fresh fruit. My eyes slipped shut as I breathed in the delicious scent. I could have sworn I wasn’t hungry, and yet my stomach moaned with hunger pangs upon seeing the food.

“I guess I’m a little hungry after all,” I said as he poured me a glass of orange juice and then sat down on the chair across from me.

He didn’t have a plate in front of him, but he did have a glass of something thick and red with a celery stick sticking out of it.

“I hope that’s a Bloody Mary,” I said, eyeing it suspiciously.

“Emphasis on the Bloody.” He winked.

I paused, gauging if he was joking or not. He wasn’t.

“Where did you get the—?” I shot up from my chair. “Did you attack someone?” I screeched, looking around the room, half expecting to see a dead body slumped in the corner.

He leaned back in his chair and clicked his tongue. “Honestly, angel. Do you take me for some kind of animal?”

I wasn’t sure how to answer that, being that he was half vampire half wolf.

Giving his head a shake, he said, “I called for delivery, and I assure you, angel, no one was hurt in the processing of my meal.” With that, he rose the glass to me and took a long, hearty sip.

He had to be telling the truth. He wouldn’t be stupid enough to attack someone with me here. Besides, after witnessing his date with Cindy or whatever her name was, he was clearly capable of finding willing participants.

“Now can we please enjoy our meal together?” he asked, his pale blond hair looking almost white in the light of day.

Rolling my neck, I sat back down in my chair and picked up my fork. I intended to only take a few bites just to get him off my back, but once I started eating, I couldn’t seem stop myself. A few short minutes later, I’d already wiped my plate clean and even had to stop myself from eating the decorative garnishing.

When I looked back up at him, I found him smirking at me.

“What? Haven’t you ever seen a girl eat before?” Probably not, I thought, remember how rail thin Cindy was.

“I was just remarking how beautiful you look when you’resatisfied.” His grin widened at the corners as something sinful flickered across his eyes. “I’d like to see more of it.”

A blush swept across my cheeks. “Well, you’ll see it good and long when I jam Lucifer’s ass back in his tomb.”

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said and took another swig of his drink—meal. Whatever.

I reached in my back pocket and pulled out the now-empty vial of blood from my jeans. “Thank you for this,” I said and handed it back to him.

“My pleasure, angel.”

I reached into my other pocket and pulled out the other vial—the one that was meant for my blood. “I didn’t fill it,” I admitted and then tossed it back to him.

He caught it without taking his eyes off me. “May I ask why not?”

“Because you’re going to drink my blood the good old-fashioned way.”

He relaxed back in his chair and stared back at me. “Is that right?”

“Yes. At least for today you are.” I stood up from the table and began rolling back the sleeve of my shirt. “I need you alive, and since we’ve only ever tested my blood directly from the source, that’s how you’re getting it.”

Chances were, my blood would work just as good if he drank it from a teacup than if he drank it from my vein, but we’d never actually tested that out, and I wasn’t about to start taking chances. Especially not today.

Dominic parted his lips to say something, but a hard knock at the door interrupted him.

“I’ll get it,” I said since I was already standing. I didn’t even get a chance to start walking before Dominic was already at the door, looking through the peephole.

“It’s the witch,” he said and then opened the door.
