“Fuck me!” Kye says, stunned, so shocked he forgets his cute little aversion to the actual curse word.

“Language, Kye,” Colt warns, and from where I sit I see the smirk tilting his fine as fuck lips.

“That’s exciting, Kye. I can’t wait to hear you play it!” Rose clears her throat. “While we’re discussing projects, I have something I want to do too.”

All eyes turn her way and when I see her swallow hard with nerves, I scoot my arm around her back in silent support.

“When I had my first date with Kye, a perfumer approached us, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot. In my next heat, I want to get a haze extraction.”

“No,” Colt says immediately.

She jabs her index finger in his direction. “You don’t get to make all the decisions, Colt. We have to communicate, remember?”

He looks like he wants to argue, but instead locks his jaw in place for a moment. “Fine, make your case and I’ll listen.”

Rose’s lovely green eyes light up with excitement. “There’s two things. The first is I kinda want to try my own business. Everyone says my haze is super strong—”

“Understatement of the year,” I mutter, and my omega rolls her eyes at me.

“—So I think it’ll be popular, otherwise the man would never have approached us. It’s something I can do in this family, and I could try designing my own labels. It would be fun.” Her gaze ticks to the wall where the individual portraits she’s done of us hang, an expressionistic license taken with them, but all beautiful and distinctly recognizable as us. She’s got quite the blooming talent.

“What’s the second thing?” I say, stroking her back, a loving feeling pushing up through my chest.

She ducks her head, lacing her fingers in her lap. “My childhood and my omega cycle were stolen from me so they could create a haze with extra-strong scent. I think . . . I think I’d like to claim that back for myself in some way, like turn it to good, other than just sending you guys wild.”

“I’m pretty partial to wild,” I murmur.

Colt sends me a warning look that’s loaded with far too much heat for me to take seriously and I shift my ass, trying to adjust my hardening cock.

Kye leans on the arm of the chair and beams at our gorgeous woman. “I think that’s a pretty good reason, Rose. I don’t like the idea of scent extraction, but if it’s something you want to do to stick it to the past, then hell, I’m with you. I feel the same about my past.”

She grins at him, her pretty, tiny mouth curving up in her happy way that makes me want to lick it. Kye can’t resist and he leans over to press a lingering kiss to her lips.

Colt runs a hand through his hair and sighs. “I was really hoping you didn’t have a good reason.”

I nudge Rose and we share a giggle. Colt might be pack leader, but he’s well and truly wrapped around Rose’s finger. And mine for that matter.

He nods thoughtfully. “If that’s what you want to do, draw up a business plan. I already know it’ll be the best-selling haze on the market, so make it a premium product and charge exorbitant prices, because they’re not getting more than one syringeful out per heat.”

He cocks his brows in a warning not to defy him on that point and I can’t say I blame him. Rose bruised up so bad from the needlegoing in her arm for the IV drip. “The Omega Center has a small business program you can enroll in.”

Rose squeals and thrashes her way out of the over-sized couch to run to him. Two alphas and an omega can’t possibly fit in a single seater, so Uno sinks down onto the floor, wrapping one calloused hand around her ankle.

Colt hugs her and kisses her hair before looking at me. “Since we’re all sharing news, I should let you know about a conversation I had with my boss today.” He clears his throat. “Starting next month, Minstrom wants me to shadow him and learn his role. I’m not eligible for it until I’ve reached my tenure and become a senior agent, so he’s holding back his retirement until next year.”

I stare at him, my mind skittering back over both how Liam stole his promotion and then answered me so evasively about the topic.

Colt holds my gaze. “They’re creating a new cyber taskforce that he wants Liam to head up, so he needed to organize that first.” He runs his tongue across his lips and gives me a lopsided smile. “I guess I jumped to conclusions.”

I get up and cross the floor to kneel beside his chair and rest my head on his knee. “I knew they had to recognize your skills eventually. I’m so happy for you, Sir.”

He drops his hand onto my hair. “It’ll be a huge responsibility.”

Rose chuckles. “Will probably feel like a holiday after being around us.”

Colt laughs and pulls us all close. I link my fingers with Rose and her omega scent flares with happiness. Five, maybe six alphas, and a happy omega all in a pack.

Not a bad outcome for us two old hopeless bastards.
