I shrug and hold up my bandaged hand.
He snorts and turns away to the sink. Water rushes through the tap and I can’t help thinking of washing with my omega. After a minute, he asks, “Want me to take you around there?”
I flinch. “Why? So Colt can shoot us both?”
His shoulders quiver with a suppressed laugh. “Always figured that would be the way I’d go.” He dries his hands and comes around the bench to lean his hip against the marble. “I like you, Luka, I think you know that. I hate seeing you and Colt fall apart like this. You were surprisingly good for him.”
Sometimes I forget Liam’s known him longer than I have.
I cock my head, wondering how far to push, and then I realize I have nothing left to lose. “Why are you so invested, viewer ALA?”
Hegroans. “Not so subtle, huh?”
I smirk and shrug.
“Yeah.” He scrubs a hand over his handsome face. “I’ll admit I’m hot for you and that monster cock of yours, Peach, but you belong to Colt and I’m not touching anything of his without his express permission.”
“But you’ll look?” I tease. His words send a faint tinge of heat pulsing through my body.
His brows jump and he scans me up and down pointedly. “Heck, yes. Can you blame a man? But if I’m being real, I think it’s because you’re Colt’s that I’m ready to rut for you. I say this in the most loving way possible, but the biggest, bad-ass agent in my department takes in a killer wild alpha, and makes him his sub? What’s hotter than that?”
I snort and agree. Not that I’m special, but the only thing hotter than Colt in this world is Rose. And when the two are together, any man would lose his mind.
I lean my elbows on the damp countertop. “So, is this a final ride together and die together plan?”
He shrugs and grins. “Well, I’d like to avoid the dying part. I was thinking more along the lines of me making sure the feral alphas got fed while they were busy, and maybe casually dropping a hint you were waiting in the truck outside and seeing how he reacted. An omega in heat is the most powerful force in this universe, AlphaKnob, and if she’s calling your name, that’ll change things.”
I swallow around a lump in my throat. If Rose is calling for me during her heat, I’d gladly risk dying, but I broke Colt’s trust so badly, I’m not worthy of either of them.
However, an alpha’s instincts can’t be ignored. “She most likely has a superheat.”
He stares at me. “Oh shit. Seriously? Luka, two alphas are not enough to get an omega through a superheat.”
A chill runs down my spine and I spin to face him. “Is it that strong?”
Liam whistles under his breath, his gaze glazing over with memory. “Most omega heats last three to four days, laddy. A superheat averages two weeks.” He hoists his ass up onto the bench and leans over me. “I know Colt’s healthy, but you reckon he can handle all that, without sleep?”
I stare into his blue eyes, my heart leaping. Dare I? Could I help Rose with her heat, and then maybe leave?
“I believe I know what that look means, Luka. You’re thinking you’re not worthy, so let me tell you a secret. You’re every bit as good for Colt as he is for you. He had no purpose in life before you came along, and he was an ass to work with.”
I cock a brow. “Isn’t he still?”
Liam grins and taps my nose. “Cheeky. Yes, he’s prickly, but since finding you he’s been steady and focused. Men like Coltaren’t designed to be lone wolves.”
“And you are?”
He spreads his hands and grins. “So, tell him I’m available, see if he’ll stop hating me.” He sees my wary look and shakes his head. “I’m joking, Luka. There’s no strings between us. Get some sleep and I’ll take you around there in the morning before work.”
My hackles rise. “How about now?”
He throws his palms wide. “You want me to walk into a man’s house in the dark when he’s got an omega in heat to protect? You’re smarter than that. He’d sic those feral alphas on me.”
I snort in amusement. “Dawn then,” I push. I don’t think I’ll even be able to sleep knowing Rose is in heat right this moment.
He groans. “Fine, crack of a devil’s ass dawn then, but you’ll have to wake me. And you have to promise to sleep. You’ll need your energy if we succeed.”
“Deal.” One more chance to try and make things right. To beg.
