Page 29 of Saving Jared

“I wasn’t that loud.” She frowned before widening her eyes and turning in his arms. If she thought waking up with Jared behind her was nice, being face to face with him was better. Even in the darkness, she could make out how cute his hair looked stuck up all over his head and the sexy grin playing around his mouth. “I wasn’t, was I?”

"Don’t worry. The house is well-insulated."

"Jared—"

His kiss silenced her, while his hands pulling her into all that hard flesh took her breath. God how she wanted him again. But—

"Willa," he groaned against her lips before his mouth trailed over her jaw and down her throat, as his hands ran down her back to cup her rear and hold her tight against him. God, the man had a talented mouth—something she could more than attest to. He’d done things to her she’d…

"Ahh…" And he was close to doing it again as he rolled her beneath him and her body willingly opened, readying for his possession.

"I need you so much… So much," he said, surging against her as his mouth once more took hers in a near punishing kiss, but one she relished as she wrapped her legs tight around his waist. "Ah, damn," he breathed out on a groan and pressed his forehead to hers.

"What?" He couldn’t stop now.

"Condom."

She wanted to tell him to forget it. But she couldn’t. So, instead she said in a pleading voice she didn’t recognize as her own, "Hurry."

Within seconds, he leaned over—basically taking her with him since she’d yet to let go—and nearly pulled the drawer completely out before reaching in and finding one. She wasn’t an expert, but she had to believe as he pried loose from her death grip and sat back on his knees, that he opened and covered himself in record time.

And then, of all things, he waited. Just sat there looking at her, though she had no idea what he saw. Heat curled low in her body at that look, needing him to make her his again.

"Hold on, honey," he whispered before reaching over and turning on the lamp.

She squinted in the soft white light as she focused on Jared’s face—a face set in a mask of stone. But nothing about his expression was cold. If anything, the tense set of his jaw and the way his silvery gray eyes took their time roaming over her would forever be etched in her mind.

Because in those quiet moments when nothing but their panted breaths and her own pounding pulse drowned out everything else, Jared spoke volumes to her without saying a word. It was a truth that beat inside her as she reached for him and he gently settled back into her embrace. One that in the silence passing between them told her this was exactly where she was supposed to be.

"Look at me," he said low as he stared down at her. "Look at me."

And she did.

She looked deeply as his body joined with hers. And just as before, it was more wondrous than she could describe. But this time it wasn’t only his body making love to hers, but everything he was—whether he realized it or not. It was there in his tender, but possessive gaze, in the way he buried his face in her neck and clung to her as their passions grew, and finally in all the passionate words falling from his lips as they both flew into completion.

God, how she loved this man.

Maybe one day he would be ready to hear it, and maybe, just maybe, on that day he would say the words back to her.

And when he did, a dream she’d held close in her heart would finally be a reality.
