“Whatever happens, we’ll deal with it when the time comes,” Magnus said, his voice cutting through the tension. He ran a hand through his hair, his expression softening again as he glanced at Zara.

“Magnus, we can’t just—” I started, but he held up a hand, silencing me.

“Enough,” he said, his tone firm, but calm. “This is a tomorrow problem, or maybe even the day after tomorrow kind of problem. Tonight, we sleep.”

Callum let out a soft chuckle, his eyes glinting faintly. “That’s about the smartest thing anyone’s said all night.”

Magnus turned, his gaze sweeping over each of us in turn. “Get some rest,” he said quietly. “We’ll figure it out tomorrow. Alright, who gets to sleep in the bed with Zara?”

CHAPTER 27

Zara

I woke in the dark to the sound of rain pattering softly against the roof, the quiet trickle of it filling the stillness of the apartment. For a moment, I just lay there, still bare after my cold shower, listening to the rhythm of my own breathing and heartbeat.

It wasn’t enough to calm the ache swirling in my core, though.

The weight of yesterday lingered on me, the fight, the fear, the rush of seeing Logan again. It had been overwhelming, and now, in the quiet of the night, that same energy had shifted into something else entirely.

I felt… restless.

No, not just restless—needy.

I turned under the blanket, the rough fabric brushing against my naked skin, and my breath caught as the ache deepened. Mybody was warm, my heart pounding faster as I glanced toward the shadowy forms of my pack scattered around the room.

Magnus was by the window, his eyes half-closed but watchful even in sleep. Callum was stretched out closest to me, his arm slung over his face as he snored softly. Tobias leaned against the far wall, his head tipped back and his eyes closed, though I doubted he was fully asleep. Killian lay sprawled on his stomach on top of a blanket near the fire. Thorne was perched near the door, his head turning toward me as if he could sense my restlessness.

My cheeks heated as my body betrayed me, the need pulsing stronger now. With a hard swallow, I slipped my hand downward. I’d take care of myself, and no one would be the wiser, but just as my fingers reached my very wet pussy, someone cleared his throat.

“What are you up to, love?” Thorne murmured, his voice low and rough.

I startled slightly, my breath hitching as his gaze locked onto mine. “I-I didn’t mean to wake you,” I whispered, trying to be as still as possible so he didn’t realize my hand was between my legs right now.

“You didn’t,” he said simply, standing and moving closer. His eyes narrowed as he crouched beside me. “Is something wrong?”

The question made my cheeks burn hotter, and I looked away, trying to hide my shame.

“Nothing,” I muttered, though my voice trembled.

Thorne tilted his head slightly, his pale eyes narrowing. “You’re a terrible liar.”

Before I could respond, Magnus rose and he stepped forward. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” I said quickly, my voice higher than I intended.

Callum shifted, blinking sleepily as he sat up. “What’s happening?”

“Zara’s awake,” Thorne said, his tone implying there was more to it than simple wakefulness.

Killian pushed himself up on his elbows, his mischievous grin already in place. “Lass, if you’re waking us up in the middle of the night, it better be good.”

“Be nice for once,” Tobias muttered, though he was clearly assessing me.

I pulled the blanket tighter around me, my body trembling slightly as they all focused on me.

“It’s nothing,” I murmured again.

Magnus crouched beside me, concern on his face. “I don’t believe that for a second, little mate.”
