“How old are you? Your Highness,” I add quickly.

“Tell me about him,” he asks, completely ignoring my question.

Suddenly, Irealize we are starting to tail the others, our horse—his horse, riding slower and slower. Did he purposely slow down so we could talk? I furrow my brows.

“Well, he is very… hot.” It’s the only nice truth about the Rogue Prince that I could think of right now, and I don’t want to lie when I don’t have to.

“Hotter than me?” he says cockily, not aware he is asking about himself.

I tip my head up again, looking at his eyes. Is he jealous? I shouldn’t be surprised. Rogue or not, he is an alpha werewolf, after all, and we can be very possessive and territorial—and I am supposed to become his wife. Why were they so adamant about arranging our marriage? Did they really think that would secure compliance on my father’s side? The fear for my safety?

“Is he?” He looks down at me and slows our horse even more.

I can’t read his eyes. They are too cold and calculating.

“No, Your Highness,” technically I don’t lie; he isn’t hotter than himself.

“I bet he is some tall alpha prick,” he says with a slight smirk, looking back at the road.

I snort with laughter at his on-point guess.

“You are mine, though,” he says suddenly, looking back at me, and my laugh instantly dies.

I look for something in his eyes, not even sure what, but I don’t find it. He doesn’t know how right he is. No matter if I like it or not.

“I am, Your Highness, completely yours,” I say with a sour taste in my mouth.

It feels and sounds like I’m lying, but unfortunately, I’m not.

Chapter 4 – Disgustingly Carefree

When we finally arrive at our destination, just outside some moonlit town, I am so sore from horse riding that I can barely stand straight. This day exhausted my body more than a fucking war.

Thank Goddess, I’m a werewolf. It will go away in no time. I can already feel myself healing.

I fish out my phone from one of the hidden pockets in my dress, but there are no bars. Not even one tiny dot of service. Fuck.

I really want to call my mom, but I guess it can wait. I sigh.

“Give me your phone,” Alpha Rogue Prince asks, hopping off the horse after me.

“What? Why?” I look at him and immediately realize my mistake, so I bow and add, “Your Highness.”

“It won’t work here anyway,” he says, snapping the phone from my hand. He’s freaking quick.

I forgot for a moment Rogues live in a place where normal humans don’t exist. It means no common infrastructure and, I guess, no phones. Do they have electricity, at least? I should have done more research beforehand, but I was too occupied with completing all my other obligations before leaving, to worry about my actual life here.

“Hey, what are you doing?” I ask when he drops my phone on the ground before him.

He smashes it a second later with the heel of his black leather combat boot. The screen is cracking and the whole phone is bending.

“What the fuck?!” I askangrily, whisper-screaming at him. Moments later, I feel the hard knock of cold metal on my cheek.

Did he…Did he justslap me with his sword?! I put my hand to the burning skin on my face and then look at it in disbelief.

Red. Blood. Hedidcut me! He cut my face!

“I’m not your fuck buddy, and you will address me accordingly, no matter how angry or aroused you are. Understood?”
