I drag my hand over my face.
“Just spit it out, guys. I’m too tired for your riddles.”
“Well,” he starts and looks at my Beta nervously. “I’m not the only one who noticed it at the wedding, right?”
Wedding? My wedding?
“You mean her light grey fur with a specific pink hue and then long pinkish-orange, blonde hair? It was pinker the last time I saw her, but… it’s her, isn’t it?” My Beta asks him with a smirk, and at the mention ofAsher’sbeautiful strawberry blonde hair, something finally clicks in my brain.
I am so mad—they are lucky I’m not eighteen and hotheaded anymore.
“Are you telling me that the enemy’s officer who’s made you cry to your Alpha for months now, is just a young spoiled girl?!” I shout at them, and everyone bows their heads in submission except for my Beta.
“Yes, Alpha, your wife isOfficer Asher. I negotiated on the battlefield with her just a few weeks ago. And technically speaking, she is a General.”
General? Like me.
‘Basically, a woman version of you, Alpha,’he adds with humor through our mind-link. I almost never close when he’s near enough for me to maintain it.
“Why didn’t you tell me before?” I ask out loud.
“I didn’t know she was the princess! Not until your wedding, Alpha. And then I had to go back to the front, and frankly, I thought you would connect the dots by yourself when you learned her name.”
“I didn’t know her name. I was about to ask you to investigate it!” My blood is boiling at this point. “That, and who her true mate is.”
“How are we supposed to know who he is?” Beta scoffs, and I see some curious glances from other Officers. “Alpha.” He adds way too late.
I want to slap him with my blade, but that won’t give me my answers.
“He’s an Alpha, and she met him after our negotiation started,” I say as calmly as I can.
“Oh, that’s easy then.” My Beta grins at me, and I already know I won’t like what he says next. “They had The Alpha Ball two days before your wedding, and she was personally greeting every Alpha in their Kingdom.”
If looks could kill, I would have to find myself a new Beta because this one would be bathing in his blood right now.
He knows that because he gulps uncomfortably. No one says anything else, and maybe he can’t stand the silence because he grunts to himself and starts again.
“Well. We know she is called Alpha Asher back home and is their only Officer who didn’t lose any battles to us. She’s good. No wonder they let her be the new General.”
Alpha Asher. My cute little wolf, whose pink wet pussy’s taste still lingers on my lips, is an Officer and the Alpha. Who would have thought?
“Why do they call her the Alpha when she’s a girl? I mean, I know she has royal alpha blood, obviously, but why was she holding the title? Never mind. Bring out my wife! And that traitor!”
The officer closest to the door opens them and shouts out commands to one of the warriors who is stationed there. He comes back inside.
“Isn’t she the officer that bit off Mike’s leg two years ago?” I hear someone whispering.
I look up just in time to catch my Beta nodding in confirmation. We lost Mike a few months ago; he was attacked and bitten to death, but as an injured wolf… I couldn’t do anything about it. Another brilliant blood law that I constantly have a problem with.
Wait, how old didshehave to be when she started fighting in the war? Sixteen? Fifteen? Impressive.
Someone opens the door just moments later, but it is not my wife or the traitor.
Fuck. I forgot it’s the end of the week. That means I have to close other things, too.
“Do you need new whores, Alpha?” Asks the omega guy, not lifting his head from his notebook.
“Why would I need new whores when I have a wife that I can fuck whenever I want?” I raise my brows while he looks up at me.
