Theo chuckled again when he led me back to the front and I filled out the paperwork. We all knew I would be back, hopefully with a kitten in tow, and if we’re lucky, a pup.
Over the two weeks since then, I have been trying to figure out how to broach the subject with my roommate. I took Matt’s suggestion of treating him like a cat to heart, but like his feline counterpart, Shiloh is nowhere to be found when I’m actually looking for him.
Plus, I have been thoroughly confused as to why Toby hasn’t come by yet. From everything I’ve seen with those two, they are usually inseparable. Did Shiloh moving in with me really affect their friendship that much? Pulling out my phone, I send a message to the one person who could possibly make sense of this drama.
Me:
Did I break up Shiloh and Toby?
Diva:
It’s not you D-man
Shy didn’t tell him he was leaving
Me:
That’s all?
Diva:
That’s enough
Those 2 need each other like oxygen but T won’t let it go until they see each other again
Me:
Don’t they have classes together?
Diva:
Maybe at the same times
Or close enuff
But opposite ends of campus
Shy is an art major
T is business
Me:
How do we get them together then?
Even tho he hides I kno it hurts him to not see his bff
Diva:
Hang on
I have a little calling me
I put my phone to the side while I finish balancing the books for today. It wasn’t a bad day, but I definitely need to do better than this if I’m going to be able to fund some renovations over the summer. I didn’t find out until I did the taxes last year that Walt qualified for a shit ton of breaks that I do not, so the margin of disposable income I have is significantly less than what I was led to believe I would be working with when I drew up the plans for the expansion.
My phone ringing pulls me away from the depressive thoughts of having to push back the expansion and renovations for another year. If only I could get a loan…
“Hello?” I answer without looking at the screen. At this point, I will take any distractions I can get.
