He starts his delicious assault. Leaning in, he kisses me hard, his tongue licking greedily. He trails kisses over to my earlobe. “Come Saturday, I’m not going to be able to let you go.” His voice drops an octave, making him sound all hoarse and sexy.

My heart twists as he reclaims my mouth with his tongue, and his thrusts become more urgent. As the shock wave that is about to wrack my body builds, I’m overcome with an awareness of something greater. I can’t make sense of it all. Yet the truth is, I’ve been lost for a long time, and I can’t help but feel Tony Boston is the one meant to find me.

CHAPTER6

BOSS

Iwrap the condom in a wad of toilet paper and discard it in the trash before washing my hands. Lexi leans toward the mirror, fanning herself.

“Look at all these red splotches. I look like someone who just got thoroughly fucked.”

“Well, didn’t you?” My mouth turns up into a grin.

“Yes, but I don’t want the whole backyard to know that I just had an orgasm the second I step outside.”

I move her hair to the side and kiss her shoulder. “I think you’ll find that most people are pretty self-involved. Everyone back there is too busy dealing with their own shit to keep tabs on us.”

She shakes her head. “Not Cam. She always knows, and then she holds it against me.”

“Well, maybe today whatever is going on between her and Deacon will keep her mind off you.” I smile at Lexi’s reflection in the mirror. Her skin does have a pinkish post-orgasm glow, and it’s sexy as fuck.

“That’s true.” She nods. “She is off today. Okay, but we need to get out there. It’s already been too long.” She twists toward the door and unlocks it. “Oh, we should go separately. I’ll go first since I left first. You follow in a minute.”

“Sounds like a plan.” I chuckle. “Go.” I tap her on the ass.

“Wait, no.” She shakes her head. “You go. It’ll give my skin time to cool down.”

“Okay.” I give her a quick kiss. “Don’t be too long,” I say before exiting the bathroom.

No one seems to look my way when I exit the house. It appears that Deacon’s mother and sisters have left. Pauly and Victoria are making out like love-sick teenagers. Tiny is getting a beer, and Cam and Deacon seem to be in the middle of some intense conversation.

I walk up and take seat as Deacon yells, “I got it!” he says to Cam, smacking his hand on his leg. “Let’s do a bet or a challenge of some sort. You name the rules. Whatever you want. If I win, you give me one date, and if you win, you can pick whatever you want.”

“No. No challenges,” she says.

“What are you guys talking about? I heard something about a challenge. I love challenges!” Lexi exclaims before plopping down on my lap.

“Nothing,” Cam answers quickly.

“I've been begging sweet Cam here to go out with me on one date, but she refuses. I suggested we make a bet, so I can maybewina date with her.”

Cam gives Deacon a cold glare.

“Oooh! This sounds fun! Cam and I used to always bet over games when we were younger. Oh, wait! You guys should play a game!” Lexi bounces against my lap with excitement.

Pauly and Victoria break up their make-out session to listen to the conversation.

“What kind of games did you two bet on?” Deacon asks Lexi.

“What games didn’t we make bets over? Basically, whatever game we came across—Life, Guess Who?, Go Fish, Connect Four. You name it, and we’ve bet on it. Cam's very competitive.”

Deacon turns to Cam. “What do you say, Cam? Want to make a wager? You pick the game...whatever game you want.”

“What games do you have?” Cam asks with a grumble.

“You can go inside and see for yourself. I have a whole closet full of 'em. My family used to have game night once a week. I have it all.” Deacon smiles. “If I win, you give me one date. After that, if you never want to go out with me again, then I'll drop it. Yeah?”

“And if I win, you'll never ask me on a date again. In fact, once Lexi leaves, you promise me that I'll never have to see you again,” Cam snaps.
