My raging hormones.

This overwhelming urge for Gideon’s touch.

It was one kiss, goddamnit, yet it triggered all of this. Stifling a groan, I throw off my jacket. Gideon closes the door and drops the bags to the floor, his eyes falling to my chest. The growing lust on his face tells me exactly what he’s staring at. My nipples. I don’t need to look down to know they’re hard. Always a dead giveaway whenever I get aroused.

So, now we have one bed, a long night andtworaging hormones, if Gideon’s hungry expression is any sign. He looks like a lion, ready to pounce. Fuck me if I don’t want him to pounce, to rip me to shreds with that growing erection in his pants.

He’s the first to look away, muttering something under his breath, his fingers dragging through his thick, long hair, hair that I secretly admit to fantasizing about too often to count. My fingers wrapped around a handful, gently tugging as I ride him, the silky locks teasing my skin as he hovers over me, my thighs widely spread, his body fitting perfectly between them, his cock stroking me—

“Ana.”

My head shoots up, heat bathing my face. “Mhmm?”

“Do you want first dibs on the shower?” Gideon asks, staring at me with a slight wariness.

“Uh, yeah. Let me grab my things.” I turn away from him to get my small pouch of toiletries from my bag. My body throbs with need. Hard throbbing everywhere. A cold shower is definitely what I need right now.

At least, I hope it will be enough.

Ten minutes later, I step out and reach for the towel on the rack, feeling no better than before. It doesn’t help to know he’s in the next room, and I’m naked, wet and—

God.

I drag the towel down my face with a groan.Come on, Ana. Get it together. Think of the reasons you can’t sleep with him. He’s a man whore. A heartbreaker. Besides, you can’t let him get close. You don’t want him finding out your secret, remember?

Of course, I remember, and that should be enough to sober me.

When I step into the bedroom, however, and see Gideon shirtless, standing in front of the mirror and throwing up his hair into a bun, I realize it won’t be so easy. It’s going to be a hell of a night.

Chapter 20

Ana

“As your best friend, I must say, you look stunning in that dress, babe,” Tori says as I cross the foyer in her apartment.

“Um, thanks.” I glance down at the sequined, spaghetti strap dress I bought last week—the first outfit I’d bought that didn’t come from the clearance rack. It stops at my knees with a generous thigh split. Raising my head, I catch a look on her face that makes me suspect there’s more to her remark. “But?”

“As your agent, that face won’t earn you a spot at the cool folks’ table,” she replies.

With a groan, I dash to the floor-length mirror in her hallway. I did my makeup so impeccably before I left the house, only taking a ruby red lipstick with me. If my makeup is ruined, I don’t know what I’d do. Tori and I aren’t even the same shade.

But it’s still perfect.

I turn to Tori with a frown. “My makeup is just fine.”

“I’m not talking about your makeup, silly.” Tori chuckles, leading the way to her bedroom. “You came through the door looking like someone just died. Is it Logan? Is that asshole still bothering you?”

“No. I haven’t heard from him since he called me on set,” I reply, rolling my eyes.

Although, my neighbor Alan told me he’d stopped by the apartment several times when I was away for work. He even asked Alan if I’d gotten a new phone number. Logan must be desperate. Has he forgotten that me and my neighbors aren’t even close?

Tori laughs, pausing with her hand on the closet door. “I’d give anything to see that look on his face when he realized he’d been blocked. He probably thought you didn’t have it in you. I’m so proud of you, Ana. You don’t even understand how much.”

I smile. “Thanks, babe.”

“Now, tell me what’s going on with you. For someone whose followers have doubled over the last week, you should be celebrating. Why the depressed face?”

“It’s not depression. It’s anxiety. Going to this party, putting on airs, pretending to be Gideon’s girlfriend… it’s making me sick inside.”
