His expression simmers, then he curses under his breath. “You shouldn’t have found out like that. I thought I left the folder back at—” He pauses, swallowing whatever location that might be. “Look, I was going to tell you, baby.”
“I’m not your baby. When were you going to tell me, anyway? When you were done filming, and I see that lead actress on a poster somewhere? Why would you do that to me? You know how much I needed that part. You promised.”
Tears threaten to flow, but I swallow the emotion. I’m not going to cry in front of him. He’ll never witness my weakness ever again.
“Not everything is about you, Ana. Joel and I decided what was best for the film. I’m sorry, but you weren’t it.”
I wet my lips, stung by his remark. “Yet, you spent the entire year gassing me up, telling me it was all mine.” Tori’s words come back at me, hitting me with a blast of awareness. “You had no intention of giving me that role. You only used me.”
“Do you really believe that shit?” he asks, snorting.
“If it walks like a duck, Logan.” Gripping the doorknob, I attempt to close the door.
Logan pushes it back with a force that makes me stumble. “If you think you’re going to break up with me over something so trivial, think again.”
“You’re not that slow, are you? I already did.” I stand taller, matching his steely glare. “Get it through your head. We’re done.”
He scoffs, staring me up and down. My grip tightens on the doorknob. “We’ll see about that, baby,” he snarls. “Get this through your head. Girls don’t walk away from Logan Wilson. I’m the one who decides when we’re done.”
Another scoff, and he backs out. With a trembling hand, I close the door. Logan’s never been violent with me, but it doesn’t mean I’m taking that threat lightly. Starting from now, I’m going to watch my back.
Chapter 13
Gideon
“Have you seen that blast on ANON?” Jared asks, sailing through my front door.
“Good morning to you, too,” I say with humor, closing the door and turning to meet his excited demeanor. “I can’t imagine anything from that gossip page worth disturbing my Sunday morning.
“You say that now but wait until you see what’s happening.” Jared swipes his phone screen, then turns it to me. “Read.”
Curious, I take the device, my eyes first dropping on the photo of me and Ana before switching to the caption.
Are the rumors true? Is James Carter finally ready to settle down?
My lovelies, it seems someone finally bagged our swoony bachelor. He was spotted last Saturday night with a beautiful blonde, and after some digging, a well-placed source confirmed who she is.
Some of you might remember Ana Kent from The House of Rules, but these days, she’s just a regular working gal. I don’t know about you, but I’m even more intrigued after hearing that, knowing James’ past. There must be something about her that’s got our most regular feature so head-over-heels.
Head over heels?I scoff. ANON has always been dramatic when describing my ‘love life’, but this is new.
Hold tight, my dears, that’s only half of the fascinating news. Check the comment section for an exclusive announcement.
I tap the screen and scroll down, curiosity fueling me.
Our source as not only confirmed she’s James’ new flame, but they’re also both starring in an upcoming romantic action film, produced by the super talented Cheryl Adams. A well-placed source has informed us that Adams bought the rights for Diego Lopez’s movie.
“The hell?” I mutter, glancing up at Jared. “Where did they get that information?”
He shrugs, but there’s a sparkle in his eyes. “Beats me, but it’s blowing up everywhere. Almost every entertainment site have the story on their front page.”
I gape at him. “Seriously?”
“As a heart attack.”
Brushing a stray lock of hair from my face, I turn my attention back to the post, scrutinizing the photo. “Who the hell took this, anyway? Michael doesn’t invite the paparazzi to his parties.”
“Beats me,” Jared mutters.
