“I should probably go,” Miles says, though there’s reluctance in his voice.
I bite my lip, torn between wanting him to stay and knowing that it’s probably for the best if he leaves. “Yeah…probably. If you want.”
But neither of us moves. Instead, he reaches out, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear, his touch sending a shiver down my spine. His eyes search mine, and for a moment, it feels like time stands still.
“I don’t want to leave. I want to kiss you,” he says softly, his voice low and full of desire. “But I’ll leave it up to you.”
My heart pounds in my chest, and without thinking, I close the distance between us, my lips finding his in a soft, tentative kiss. It’s slow at first, gentle, but the moment his hand slides to the back of my neck, pulling me closer, the kiss deepens, and all the pent-up tension between us ignites.
He pulls me onto his lap, and I can feel the heat of his body through his clothes, the hard lines of his chest pressed against mine. His hands roam my back, my hips, his touch sending fire through my veins. I gasp against his mouth as his fingers slip beneath the hem of my dress, tracing the sensitive skin of my thigh.
“Miles,” I breathe, my voice filled with want.
He pulls back just enough to look at me, his eyes dark with desire. “Do you want me to stop?”
I shake my head, unable to form words as I pull him back to me, my lips crashing into his. His hands grip my waist, lifting me slightly as he shifts beneath me, his growing arousal pressing against me through his jeans.
I tug at his shirt, needing to feel his skin against mine. He obliges, pulling it over his head and tossing it aside before putting his hands back on me, his touch hungry and possessive. I run my hands over his chest, feeling the hard muscle beneath my fingers and marveling at the strength of him.
He lifts me easily, carrying me toward the bedroom, his lips never leaving mine. When we reach the bed, he lays me down gently, his body hovering over mine as his hands make quick work of the zipper on my dress.
“God, you’re beautiful,” he murmurs, his voice thick with desire as he gazes down at me.
I smile at him, my heart racing. “I’m all yours.”
In his arms, beneath the soft glow of the night, I surrender to the undeniable pull between us, to the way his touch unravels me and binds me all at once. There is no more hesitation, no more doubt—only the certainty that this is where I belong. With every whispered breath and every lingering kiss, the past fades into irrelevance, the future bright with possibility. Love, in its purest, rawest form, has always been tangled between us, hidden beneath all the restraint and longing. But now, as we come together, the knot is no longer a barrier—it’s a bond, unbreakable and true.
