Page 146 of His Sunshine Baby

Moon Goddess, they are the best fighters in Silver City, and right on time to save the day, too! The Purple Moon wolves attack without mercy, shifting the balance, clearing the attackers around Nora and Tonia in no time.

The fighting resumes, even fiercer, but things are looking better for us this time. Suddenly, I realize another wolf joined the fight, the younger Black! He’s side by side with Nora, but before I can wonder what he is doing here, I suddenly hear Daniel’s whimper.

“Danny!!”

“Fuck!”

I jump in, kicking away the vampire who managed to pin him down. My best friend, in his wolf form, is hurt, struggling to get back up.

“You idiot, stop trying to protect me!”

“Hey, I’m not protecting you, I’m protecting my goddaughter!”

“You’ve got to be kidding me!”

We don’t have time to argue; Boyan jumps in to kill the other vampire who was targeting him. I help Danny up, but thank Moon Goddess, it seems the fight is almost over. The vampires are pretty much all dead or unable to fight in some way, the Purple Moon and Boyan are tearing the rest of them to shreds.

It’s a bloodbath around us, quite literally. Everyone is a mess. I check in with the north but thank Moon Goddess, the nightmare is almost over there too. Nora lets me know the south and east are safe too, the packs are clearing up their territories. Thank Moon Goddess.I turn to Danny and check his leg, but damn, it doesn’t look good.

“You’re hurt... I told you to not shield me!”

“Danny, you okay, baby? Does it hurt?”

But Daniel has decided to ignore both me and Boyan. It’s cute to see a two-hundred-pound wolf worry about Danny, but I won’t say that out loud. I start tending to Danny since I’m the only one with my hands available, and get to burning those damn vampire corpses. Damn, it reeks, and there’s a lot to do.

While I’m busy getting rid of them, it seems the Alphas silently agreed to a short meeting there. Lysandra Jones, the Purple Moon Alpha, Patrick Seaver, the Sea Moon Alpha, and Nora start talking, in their human or wolf forms.

“Elena!”

I turn around. Damn, The King and… Nate.

“Elena, are you okay?”

Damn, does he have to mind-link me when there are about fifty people around? Doesn’t he have a lot of other people to care about first? I nod, trying to avoid his gaze. Damn, I must look like a mess, too.

“The Black youngsters. I don’t like seeing the likes of you in my harbor, but I guess this is what they call an emergency.”

“Indeed. How is the north?”

“We are fine. The remains are being burnt as we speak, and we chased them far enough. The White Moon clan is taking care of whatever is left,” answers Nate to the other Alphas.

Does he really have to keep glancing at me like that? I try to stay close to Danny, acting busy or whatever just to avoid looking at him.

“What was that? They attacked at the south-east too,” the Purple Moon Alpha ponders.

“They struck the north first,” says Nate. “We received the northern packs’ distress call early enough and went to help them, but there were about a hundred vampires.”

“You mean only a hundred? How come the White Moon couldn’t get rid of that? Did they get soft or something?”

I can’t help but growl, Danny too. Is she fucking kidding me? When they only arrived last minute to help? Nathaniel speaks before it gets nasty between us and the Purple Moon wolves.

“It wasn’t only vampires. Something was helping them. I saw the water from the river catching and trapping wolves. Somewere poisoned too; there were many victims because of that. Something was definitely off.”

Xavier and Chris were telling the truth. How is that possible though? I exchange a glance with Daniel, just as clueless as I am.

“Sounds like a witch to me,” suddenly says the Sea Moon Alpha.

“A witch?”
