She smirks, a slow, dangerous curl of her lips.

And with a wicked glint in her eyes, she murmurs,“Wouldn’t you like to know?”

The second the words leave her mouth, Connor goes completely still.

He takes a breath and blinks.

And then, his grin stretches wide, feral and victorious.

Oh, Allie.

“Good thing,” Harper sasses. “Cause I’m not changing them. You’d have to shut up and put up.”

Allie laughs, raising her glass. “That’s my girl.”

Connor’s eyes slide down Allie’s form beside him. “I can’t wait to see you in a navy dress. I’m thinking halter top. Really accentuate your cleavage.”

Allie takes a sip of her wine, eyeing him over the rim. “Good idea. I’m sure Mark will like that.”

Connor’s brow furrows as a glint of determination flashes in his eyes.

He clenches his jaw before his gravelly voice asks, “Who’s Mark?”

She sets her glass on the table, then flashes a triumphant grin. “My boyfriend.”

Connor’s jaw works back and forth before he smirks. “He sounds like a tool.”

Allie gasps. “You don’t know him. You can’t?—”
