My father would like Hunter. As soon as this investigation ended, I’d take Hunter to meet him. After all, I wanted his approval. Whatever this thing was between me and my biker, it was becoming intense and more permanent with every conversation we had.

I helped clean up after we finished eating, and Hunter grabbed a beer, popping off the top as he watched me finish the dishes.

“I like seeing you here, in my kitchen, close enough that I can touch you whenever I want.”

“Barefoot and cleaning?” I joked.

“Barefoot, knocked up, and sharing my bed.” He shrugged as I gasped. “Not gonna hide what I feel or want, baby.”

“What about what I want?” I asked, placing my wet hands on my hips. “You don’t dictate my womb or future.”

“I don’t?” he asked with a sly grin, chugging the last of his beer and tossing the empty bottle in the trash. He sauntered closer, snaking an arm around my waist before hauling me against his chest. “Tell me you don’t want to have my babies or be my ol’ lady. Go ahead and lie, Gracey girl. I’ll still know the truth.”

“Hunter,” I growled, “This is crazy talk.”

“It’s just reality. The sooner you accept it, the faster we can get started on those babies.”

God. He was laying it on thick. Shocking me. Turning me on. Being pushy. But in his gaze, shining in the hazel depths, I couldn’t deny the truth. I saw the affection and desire he couldn’t hide: the lust and need. Hunter had fallen for me even if he hadn’t said the words yet.

And if I was being honest, I knew I fell hard for him too.

Every night we played our game, and we chatted late into the night; I felt it. Every time he called me one of those endearments that made my stomach flutter. Each time, I hurried home so I could hear his voice. They all proved that I loved Hunter and had fallen for a man I had yet to sleep with. I didn’t even know what his dick looked like yet.

I shook my head, wondering how this happened so fast and effortlessly. “How did we get here?”

He smirked. “Lots of hours online.”

“Don’t you think it’s strange?”

“A little geeky, maybe. That’s just us, baby. We’re both odd and gamers.”

He was right. “Yeah.”

His head lowered as one hand speared through my hair, holding me still. “You’ve got a little hot sauce on the side of your mouth.”

I didn’t have time to do more than blink before his tongue was licking at the spot he mentioned, lapping at the skin before tracing the contour of my lips. I opened up to him, and his tongue entered, tasting me thoroughly as the kiss deepened.

My God, the man knew how to kiss. I stumbled backward into the sink, and he followed, pressing his body into mine as I gripped the waist of his jeans, my fingers digging into the leather of his belt.

That was when he began to vibrate. Or, to be specific, the phone tucked into his front pocket. It wouldn’t relent, and he finally pulled away, snatching the cell and growling a greeting to whoever interrupted us.

I heard an impatient male voice as he walked into the living room, talking to someone he called “Pres.”

Since I had to wait, I wiped down the kitchen and hung up the towel, satisfied the kitchen was clean. I grew bored as I waited for Hunter, nearly jolting when my phone buzzed from inside my purse. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t so quiet. I could hear Hunter’s muffled words, but they weren’t loud enough to disguise my phone buzzing two more times. I decided to check in case my father messaged me, completely forgetting that Agent Rickman said he’d text soon.

AR:We’re all set.

AR:Need you to check into the clinic as a patient.

Well, shit. That wasn’t what I had planned for today.

Me:When?

AR:Tomorrow. Nine a.m.

Me:Which doctor?

AR:Clark.
